BMW Championship 2023 Betting Odds and Preview

The best golfers in the world will meet on the third date of the PGA Tour Playoffs, when the BMW Championship 2023 will be played on August 17 at Olympia Fields, in Illinois, the United States.

As duas últimas edições do torneio tiveram o mesmo vencedor: o americano Patrick Cantlay, que em 2021 alcançou o recorde de -27 abaixo do par e em 2022 teve uma pontuação de -14 abaixo do par.

Estando entre os 70 melhores do mundo, Cantlay, 11º colocado no FedExCup Points PGA Tour em 2023, poderá defender seu troféu pela terceira vez, algo que não parece fácil pela qualidade dos rivais que terá em Frente a ele.

Favoritos do Campeonato BMW 2023

O histórico Rory McIlroy chega como grande favorito do torneio. O norte-irlandês é uma das maiores lendas do esporte, vencendo o Genesis Scottish Open deste ano em julho, derrotando o escocês Robert MacIntyre com -15 acima do par.

Ele também venceu o Campeonato BMW em 2012, derrotando o histórico Phil Mickelson e o inglês Lee Westwood, com pontuação de 268. Em seu currículo, o norte-irlandês de 34 anos venceu o Torneio PGA duas vezes, o Aberto dos Estados Unidos uma vez e O Campeonato Aberto uma vez.

Scottie Scheffler é o segundo na lista de candidatos. As a curious fact, this year the American joined a select group with his compatriots Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, as the only ones to win the Masters Tournament and The Players Championship in 12 months.

Completing the podium of favorites is the Spaniard Jon Rahm, one of the best golfers in the world and the leader of the ranking with 3117 points, winning four trophies and finishing nine times in the top 10 in 2023. This year he won the Tournament of Champions, The American Express, the Los Angeles Open, and the Masters at Augusta. The last one is, by far the most important of all.

He became the fourth golfer from his country to achieve this title, after Severiano Ballesteros, José María Olazábal, and Sergio García Fernández. In 2023 the Iberian was also in the top 10 of the US Open and finished in the top 50 of the PGA Tournament.

The current two-time tournament champion, Patrick Cantlay, is fourth on the list of candidates. Meanwhile, the young Norwegian Viktor Hovland is fifth. Hovland, a professional since 2019, has finished in the top 10 of the Masters Tournament and the PGA Championship, so he is hoping for his first major win of the year. So far in 2023, he has won the Memorial Tournament.

Despite not being among the top-5 candidates, golfers Max Homa, Wyndham Clark, and Ricky Fowler should be taken into account.

Homa this year won the Farmers Insurance Open, with six under par, beating Keegan Bradley. Also, he is coming off a top-10 finish at The Open Championship.
