Here we go again for the summary of the Brasileirão games of the weekend. This Matchday 21 of the league showed some interesting games, such as the fight of the Atléticos and the big win for Fortaleza contra Internacional (3-0). 

Palmeiras atendeu às expectativas e fez um ótimo trabalho contra Goiás, enquanto Coríntios didn’t have the extra strength to beat Avaí away from home. 

The league is very exciting now for those chasing the leader Palmeiras. Coríntios (2nd) has 39 points, Fluminense (3º) tem 38, Athletico Paranaense (4º) tem 37, e Flamengo (5º) tem 36.

Botafogo 1 x 1 Ceará

Botafogo (12º) fez um gol madrugador do zagueiro Víctor Cuesta no primeiro tempo, mas permitiu que Mendoza marcasse no segundo tempo, para empatar a partida. Ambas as equipes criaram muitas chances, mas faltou precisão nos chutes aos atacantes, fazendo um bom dia para os goleiros. 

Juventude 0 x 1 América Mineiro

Pedrinho scored the goal of the game to keep juventude at the bottom of the table. The hosts missed another chance, to sum up, a point to climb in the table and try to avoid relegation. América Mineiro (9º) has renewed the hope to finish the tournament in the middle of the table after this win.

Atlético Goianiense 2 x 1 Red Bull Bragantino

Midfielder Marlon Freitas scored one of the most beautiful goals in the league. He shot the ball with power from the outside of the box; the keeper even touched the ball, but couldn’t defend it. Striker Churín scored the second goal to seal the victory. Atlético Goianiense is now the 19th, while Red Bull Bragantino is at the 8th.

Avaí 1 x 1 Corinthians

Avaí played its best against Coríntios, but couldn’t beat the guests. The striker Bissoli scored once again in a penalty kick, but defender Balbuena scored for Coríntios, putting final numbers to this balanced game. 

São Paulo 0 x 2 Flamengo

The second team Flamengo beat São Paulo at Morumbi stadium in a way that surprised both sides’ supporters. Even with a mixed team, Flamengo was superior in the game and didn’t give a chance to São Paulo. As we said in our previous analysis, the score of 2-0 was a great pick because Flamengo is playing at the highest level right now.

Fluminense 1 x 0 Cuiabá

Argentinian striker Cano scored again to guarantee a Fluminense win against Cuiabá. Ganso gave him a beautiful assist and he scored with his left foot, making coach Fernando Diniz overjoyed. Fluminense is in the 3rd position; Cuiabá is in the 18th. 

Palmeiras 3 x 0 Goiás

As we mentioned in our matchday preview, Palmeiras did beat Goiás 3-0. The technical gap between the teams is huge and Palmeiras wouldn’t miss this chance to put 3 more points on the table. They are still leaders, but now with 6 points ahead of Coríntios. 

Fortaleza 3 x 0 Internacional

Fortaleza’s supporters got crazy in this game against Internacional. While the game was without goals, striker Romarinho saw a red card and left the team with ten men to play. Even with that adversity, the club could score three times – one of them in a beautiful free kick. Fortaleza is alive in the league and is almost out of the relegation zone.  

Atlético Mineiro 2 x 3 Athletico Paranaense

The bad moment of Atlético Mineiro persists! After this defeat, Atlético has five games in a row without winning, and the last time they got 3 points was against Botafogo, on July 17th. Coach Felipão showed once again how strong is this Athletico Paranaense and how far they can get in the league. Young talent Vitor Roque scored twice to seal the victory against Mineiro.
