Premier League: Técnicos sob pressão

Premier League: Técnicos sob pressão

Resumo da jornada da Premier League

Last Updated on Outubro 19, 2026 6:03 pm by Erwin Noguera

A record nine of the twenty clubs started this Premier League season with a manager appointed after the end of 2025/26. Seven matchweeks in, not one manager has been sacked.

And the two men closest to going both arrived before that reshuffle.Michael Carrick has been at Manchester United since January 13. Roberto De Zerbi arrived at Tottenham in March. They are the sack-race favorites alongside one of the nine.

Manchester City have won all seven under a new manager. Fulham have won one under a new manager. The same summer produced both.

The Sack Race

The market has three men well clear, and the prices depend on when you look.

Michael CarrickManchester United6/4January 2026
Álvaro ArbeloaFulham9/4Summer 2026
Oliver GlasnerFloresta de Nottingham6/1Summer 2026
Roberto De ZerbiTottenham5/1March 2026

Pierre Sage at Crystal Palace and Frank Lampard at Coventry also appear in the 5/1 to 8/1 range on some boards.

Michael Carrick: One Win in Seven

Manchester United is thirteenth with seven points, and the shape of it is the problem.

One win, four draws, two defeats. Ten scored, ten conceded, a goal difference of exactly zero. Four draws from seven are not a crisis in the results column, and it is a crisis in the points column: a club with United’s wage bill drawing more than half its matches is going nowhere slowly.

And Europe has made it worse. They were beaten 2-0 at Atlético Madrid on Champions League Matchday 2, extending a winless run, and sitting thirty-six in the league phase on three points. Their one win there was 4-0 at home against Sabah.

Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim in January, and this is his first full season in permanent charge. On 6/4, he is the market’s answer, and the case is not that United is collapsing; it is that nothing is being built.

Álvaro Arbeloa: The New Manager Already in Trouble

Fulham are eighteenth on five points with one win in seven.

Arbeloa is one of the nine summer appointments, and he is the only one of the nine in the bottom three. Seven scored, ten conceded.

Some reporting in the last week described Fulham at the bottom of the table on two points from six matches. That is no longer the position: they are eighteenth on five from seven, with Sunderland bottom on four. The direction of travel is still obviously wrong, but the number being quoted around him is out of date.

At 9/4 he is the shortest price of the nine new men, and the uncomfortable detail is the timing: a manager appointed in the summer is usually given a season. The market does not think he will get one.

Roberto De Zerbi: Tonight Matters

Tottenham are sixteenth on six points, one win in seven, and they host Coventry City this evening.

Coventry is seventeenth on six points. This is a bottom-five fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, against a newly promoted side, with a manager at 5/1 to be the next out.

De Zerbi arrived in March and has had a full summer. Six points from seven matches, six goals scored (the joint-lowest tally of any club outside the bottom two) is not what that preparation was supposed to produce.

A defeat tonight would be the single worst result available to him on this fixture list.

Oliver Glasner: The Fastest Mover

Nottingham Forest is nineteenth on five points, and Glasner’s price was cut from 10/1 to 6/1 by two bookmakers after a defeat at Crystal Palace.

That is the sharpest movement in the market, and it came from one result rather than a run.

Forest scored five goals in seven matches: the lowest total in the division. They have conceded only nine, which is better than ten of the clubs above them. This is a side that cannot score rather than a side that cannot defend, which is the easier problem to diagnose and the harder one to fix in October.

Pierre Sage: The Numbers Nobody Is Pricing

Crystal Palace are fourteenth on seven with a goal difference of minus eight: nine scored, seventeen conceded.

Seventeen goals against are the worst defensive record in the Premier League: two more than Ipswich in second worst, and three more than any club in the bottom four. Palace has beaten Forest, which has kept the pressure off.

Sage is one of the nine; he is listed between 5/1 and 8/1, and his underlying numbers are worse than De Zerbi’s.Two wins and four defeats with the division’s second-leakiest defense is a profile that usually attracts more attention than this one has.

The New Manager Who Has Not Lost

Enzo Maresca has won all seven.

Manchester City are top on twenty-one points with a +12-goal difference, having replaced Pep Guardiola after ten years and twenty trophies, rebuilt the midfield twice over, and dropped not a single point.

That is the context the sack race needs. The same summer that produced a record nine managerial changes produced the most emphatic start of any new appointment in years e a co-favorite for the sack. Nine clubs took the same gamble and the outcomes ranged from seven wins to one.

Xabi Alonso at Chelsea is the second success, fourth on thirteen points with seventeen goals scored. Andoni Iraola at Liverpool is the ambiguous one: fifth on twelve points, only one defeat, and nine goals in seven matches, which for Liverpool is the thinnest attacking return in recent memory.

The Pressure Nobody Is Talking About

Matthias Jaissle was appointed at Newcastle on 5 August, after Eddie Howe’s exit left them the last club in the league without a permanent head coach.

They are eleventh on eight points with a minus-four goal difference, ten scored, and fourteen conceded. He does not appear on the sack boards, and he arrived latest of anyone, which buys time. Fourteen conceded in seven is the detail that will stop buying it.

And Aston Villa are the strangest case in the league.Twelfth in the Premier League on eight points with a minus-four goal difference, and third in the Champions League league phase with a +7, having beaten Fenerbahçe 6-0.

Seven goals scored domestically against nine in two European matches.A club performing that differently in two competitions is either about to click or about to have a very public argument about why it has not.

O que assistir

Whether Manchester United can win a match. One victory in seven domestically and a winless run in Europe. Carrick at 6/4 is the shortest price on the board, and the four draws are why.

Whether Brighton’s +18 turns into position. Twenty-three goals scored, five conceded, and third place. No club in the division has a better underlying record, and two sides are above them.

And whether anyone gets sacked.Nine new managers, seven matchweeks, zero dismissals. The market has priced four men at 6/1 or shorter. At some point one of those prices becomes a result, and historically it happens before November.
