After a short break, the PGA returns to action with the start of the FedEx Cup Fall. The Procore Championship is the first of seven events to be played over two months and will determine who retains their card for the 2026 PGA Tour.

The Procore Championship will be played from September 11 to 14 at Silverado Country Club (North Course) in Napa, California. This is a par-72 course measuring 7,166 yards. This tournament serves as a prelude to the Ryder Cup, and we’ll see 10 of the 12 players from the U.S. team in action.

Last year’s champion was American Patton Kizzire, while Max Homa and Brendan Steele are the only players to have won it twice, both doing so consecutively.

Scottie Scheffler had a great year, winning five titles and finishing in the Top 10 in 16 of 19 events. In the FedEx Cup Playoffs, he won the BMW Championship; however, he arrived at the Tour Championship as the leader in the title race but finished fourth.

Scheffler has 18 career titles, but this will be his first time playing this tournament and on this course, which is a disadvantage for a player who doesn’t need to fight for his card for next year, but who will take these four days as preparation for the Ryder Cup.

Second on this list is Patrick Cantlay. Another American who will play in the Ryder Cup, he hasn’t won a title this year, and this might be the one. He recently finished second at the TOUR Championship and now has five Top 10s in 2025.

Cantlay hasn’t won a title since the 2022 BMW Championship, but a month ago, he started working with putting coach Phil Kenyon, and the change has been immediate. It’s worth noting he has played this course twice, back when it was the Safeway Open, in 2019 and 2020, with his best finish being seventh.

Lastly, Russell Henley must be included on the list. Winner of this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, he also has nine other Top 10 finishes in 2025, including a second place in the most recent TOUR Championship, three strokes behind Tommy Fleetwood.

He has played in Napa three times, but it has never gone well for him. He was there in 2016, 2017, and 2019, missing the cut twice and finishing 41st in the other. He has five career titles, but has never been able to win more than one in a single year.

Justin Thomas returned to winning ways in 2025 after three years, taking the RBC Heritage. On top of that, he has three runner-up finishes this season and is coming off a seventh-place finish at the TOUR Championship, making this one of his best campaigns in a long time. In his favor, he has played this course five times, finishing in the Top 10 in four of them, including a third place in 2016.

J.J. Spaun shocked everyone this year with his victory at the U.S. Open, his second PGA Tour title after the 2022 Valero Texas Open. In 2025, he lost two playoffs, one to Rory McIlroy at THE PLAYERS Championship and another to Justin Rose at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. He also finished second at the Cognizant Classic. His best result in this tournament was a ninth-place finish in 2021.

We’ll close with Collin Morikawa. It hasn’t been a great year for him, as he has yet to win a title. He started the season well with two runner-up finishes at The Sentry and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but since then, he has only managed two more Top 10s. He is coming off a 19th-place finish at the TOUR Championship and previously had a 10th-place finish at this course in 2020.
