Charlotte had a golden chance to get back into the match, but Matt Freese denied Wilfried Zaha from the spot, preserving the clean sheet.
With this win, NYC FC officially clinched a spot in the MLS 2025 playoffs, adding confidence as the postseason approaches.

Inter Miami secured a vital 3-2 home win over D.C. United at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, with Lionel Messi once again at the heart of the action. The Argentine star was directly involved in all three goals for Miami, proving decisive in a game where D.C. threatened but ultimately fell short.
The scoring opened in the 35th minute when Messi combined brilliantly with Tadeo Allende, who finished to give the hosts the lead. D.C. United struck back early in the second half through Christian Benteke, leveling the score at 1-1 in the 53rd minute. Miami responded swiftly, as Jordi Alba’s run down the flank set up Messi for a cool finish in the 66th minute.
Messi doubled his tally in the 85th minute after Sergio Busquets picked him out with a trademark pass, effectively sealing the victory.

Sporting Kansas City’s hopes of reaching the playoffs came to an end after a 2-0 home loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps at Children’s Mercy Park. The visitors struck early, with Edier Ocampo netting a goal just two minutes into the match. Later, Kenju Cabrera doubled Vancouver’s lead in the 43rd minute—his first MLS goal in just his third appearance.
Despite Sporting pushing in the second half and generating a few chances, they couldn’t break through. Their defeat also marks their elimination from playoff contention in the 2025 MLS season.

FC Cincinnati edged out LA Galaxy 3-2 on the road in a thrilling encounter. The match was marked by attacking flair, a red card, and a dramatic late finish.
Cincinnati grabbed the lead early: Ender Echenique opened the scoring in the 10th minute, set up by Evander after pressure forced a turnover. Before halftime, Brenner extended the lead in the 22nd minute, converting a pass from Evander and Denkey.
LA Galaxy pulled one back in the 39th minute when Joseph Paintsil headed home a cross from Diego Fagundez. However, the match turned even more tense when Isaiah Parente was shown a red card in the 51st minute after receiving a second yellow.
Despite being a man down, Cincinnati struck again late. Brenner completed his brace in the 88th minute, finishing a pass from Evander to restore a two-goal lead. LA responded in stoppage time when Mauricio Cuevas curled a shot from inside the box to make it 3-2, but it proved too little too late.
