NFL Divisional Championship Round: Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots

The New England Patriots delivered as expected and returned to the Super Bowl after defeating the Denver Broncos on the road to claim the AFC title.

The Broncos entered this game without their star quarterback, Bo Nix, who was injured in the previous matchup. His replacement was Jarrett Stidham, who performed better than many anticipated. He completed 17 of 31 passes for 133 yards, threw one touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton, and was intercepted once. That interception was made by Colombian cornerback Christian González with two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, effectively ending Denver’s hopes.

For the Patriots, Drake Maye scored the team’s only touchdown, on the ground, and also completed 10 of 21 passes for 86 yards, without throwing an interception.

It was a game in which the second half was played under heavy snowfall, which affected the players’ performance.The Broncos took the lead in the first quarter and managed to control the game with a strong defensive effort. However, a sack on Stidham near the 10-yard line allowed Maye to score on a run before halftime to tie the game.

In the third quarter, the snow intensified and began to have a greater impact on both teams’ offenses, making it difficult to score again. Andy Borregales converted one of his three field goal attempts with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter, which ultimately proved to be the game-winning points.

In the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks were in charge, as in a great and tightly contested game, they defeated the Los Angeles Rams 31–27 to advance to the Super Bowl.

It was a great battle between Sam Darnold and Matthew Stafford. While Darnold completed 25 of 36 passes for 346 yards, Stafford went 22 of 35 for 374 yards. Each threw three touchdown passes, and neither was intercepted.

The Seahawks took the lead in the first quarter with a run by Kenneth Walker, who was coming off a three-touchdown performance against the 49ers, after a 52-yard reception by Rashid Shaheed.

In the second quarter, the Rams turned it around with a field goal and a touchdown by Kyren Williams, but before halftime, Jaxon Smith-Njigba scored to give Seattle the lead, one they would never relinquish.

Both teams added two more touchdowns in the third quarter, while neither was able to score in the fourth, sealing the victory for Seattle in front of their home crowd.

On the final play, Stafford connected with Puka Nacua with three seconds remaining, but the wide receiver was unable to get out of bounds, and the clock ran out.

In addition to his touchdown, Smith-Njigba had nine more receptions, including an incredible one-handed catch, finishing with 153 yards. The other Seahawks touchdowns were scored by Cooper Kupp, who joined the team this year after spending eight seasons with the Rams, and third-year wide receiver Jake Bobo on his lone reception.

For the Rams, Nacua, Davante Adams, and Kyren Williams found the end zone. Nacua caught nine passes for 165 yards, while Adams had just four receptions but totaled 89 yards. Williams added two catches for 22 yards and rushed for 39 yards on 10 carries.
