Injuries to their rotation have made starting pitching a clear need. Upgrading the left side of the infield would tighten the lineup. And they have exactly what sellers want: major league-ready arms, controllable bats, and teenage prospects with real ceilings.

Skubal fits here. The Brewers have made the big lefty trade before with C.C. Sabathia, and it worked. If Detroit moves him, Milwaukee is in the conversation until the last minute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rays need outfielders, a catcher, a middle infielder, a starting pitcher, and bullpen help. That is not a contender’s shopping list; that is a full roster overhaul. But Tampa has one of the best farm systems in baseball, deep and top-heavy at the same time.

Swinging for Skubal is not the Rays’ style. Neither is winning a World Series with the roster they usually run out there. At some point, the calculated risk has to happen. This looks like the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Yankees: Aggression Is the Only Option <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Injury after injury pushed Chicago into acquiring David Peterson as a stopgap. That is not the solution. They need a high-end starter or two quality arms, plus bullpen help and a left-handed bat for the corner outfield or DH spot.

The Cubs have young major league-ready talent to pull off a big move and still add supplemental pieces around the edges. With a lineup this good, there is no reason to be conservative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
