After three Grand Prix races, Formula 1 makes its iconic stop in Baku, Azerbaijan, for the fourth GP of the year in one of the closest seasons in recent F1 history. It will be held from April 28-30, 2023.
While it is true that Red Bull’s dominance seems total again in this 2023 season, there is now less of a gap between the other teams. In addition, we enjoyed the pleasant surprise of seeing Aston Martin fighting among the best in all three contested races.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is one of the most anticipated races on the Formula 1 calendar. It is held on the streets of Baku and promises to be a thrilling spectacle of speed and skill. Being an urban race, it becomes one of the most complicated on the calendar, but this increased challenge for the drivers is certainly an added motivation to take the win.
The Baku Street circuit is 6.003 km long and has 20 corners, including a long straight, the longest on the F1 calendar. The circuit is known for its tight corners and high-speed straights, making it challenging for drivers to test their skills and reflexes.
High-safety car probabilities
The Baku Street circuit is notorious for producing unexpected results, with accidents and safety car periods. The city’s narrow streets and high speeds mean drivers must give their best to navigate the track without incident.
Weather
The weather in Baku is expected to be warm and dry, with temperatures reaching 25°C during the weekend. However, weather forecasts at the time of writing highlight a 30% chance of rain for Sunday, i.e., race day.
Overall, the Azerbaijan GP promises to be an exciting race, with plenty of action and excitement on the track. However, with drivers and teams trying to maximize their performance, no one knows who will emerge as the winner.

Azerbaijan F1 GP race preview and betting selections
There is no doubt that Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen is the favorite to win the Azerbaijan GP, having already won the last race in Australia. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who has already won in Baku on different occasions, is expected to present a strong challenge. However, we cannot rule out that Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will fight for a podium finish.
On the other hand, based on what has been demonstrated so far, Fernando Alonso, with Aston Martin, could be on the podium again, as well as George Russel, who undoubtedly continues to show great consistency in the Mercedes.
We must also highlight that Lance Stroll is having a great start to the season, and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari must fight against the failures of his car and against the bad luck that has accompanied him during the last seasons to have a good result in this race.
On the aerodynamic side, the Aston Martin looks to be the second-fastest car on the grid. However, the skill of Hamilton and the courage of Leclerc will try to displace the veteran Fernando Alonso from the first place.
