The Genesis Scottish Open 2023 comes to The Renaissance Club, in North Berwick, Scotland, to bring together the best golfers in the world from July 12 to 16, who are preparing to underpin their talent at The Open Championship, one of the biggest competitions in the sport, which starts a week later.

The Scottish turf will host the best players of the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour so that the public can enjoy a competition that has the American Xander Schauffele as its reigning champion.

Schauffele, from California, finished with a score of 273, -7 under par, and was able to beat his compatriot Kurt Kitayama last year. In addition, he has had good showings in 2023, finishing in the top 10 at the Augusta Masters and US Open.

Genesis Scottish Open 2023 Betting Favorites

One of the names that generate more expectation in the British competition, and therefore the great favorite, is Scottie Scheffler. The American is number 1 in the world ranking and this year he already won The Players Championship, played in May in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, United States.

Scheffler has a total of 608.25452 points, which makes him worthy of first place in world golf, surpassing John Ram’s 460.06209.

Another of the great golfers who will be at the 41st edition of the Genesis Scottish Open will be Northern Ireland’s Rory Mcllroy, number three in the world and who in his career has already won trophies such as the US Open, the PGA Championship, and the Open Championship. In addition, he will be in search of a title he has not been able to win for his trophies.

We must also mention Patrick Cantlay, who was one of the last ones confirmed along with Ricky Fowler and Viktor Hovland, and who arrives not only with the mission of improving the fourth place achieved in this competition, but he is one of the strongest of the year, getting six times into the top 10 so far in 2023, including a third place in the Genesis Invitational.

And for the American Fowler, this is a special competition, as he already won it in 2015 and has finished in the top 10 in six other participations. Finally, we cannot fail to highlight the Norwegian Viktor Hovland, who this year finished second in the PGA Championship, the Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick, and the Americans Max Homa and Jordan Spieth.

But among so many prominent names there is a notable absence, that of the Spaniard Jon Rahm, who preferred to continue his preparation for the Open Championship differently, resting. In addition, he chose to prioritize what comes after the Major, which is the FedEx Cup and the Ryder Cup.

Rahm was champion of the US Open and has also won the Memorial Tournament, the San Diego Open, and the Dubai World Championship. He was even ranked number 1 in the world in 2020.

This will be the second edition in which the Genesis Scottish Open is not only part of the European Golf Tour but is also a competition that belongs to the PGA Tour, so it will have the largest financial prize for the champion in its history. The winner of the trophy will receive USD 1,600,000.

In addition, the champion will be one of the favorites to win the Open Championship.
