John Deere Classic 2023 Preview and Betting Odds

The John Deere Classic is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour. It is played annually in July, usually the week before The Open Championship, at TPC Deere Run in the Quad Cities community of Silvis, Illinois.

The tournament began as the Quad Cities Open in 1971 and was a “satellite event” on the PGA Tour. It became an official tour competition in 1972.

Since the introduction of the Open Qualifying Series, the John Deere Classic is a final chance for a player not already exempt to earn entry into The Open if he finished in the top five.

To help attract players who will compete in the following week’s Open Championship, since 2008 the John Deere Classic has sponsored a charter flight that leaves the Quad Cities on Sunday night and arrives in Britain the next morning.

Event Overview – John Deere Classic – 2023 – PGA Golf Tour

The course is in Silvis, Ill., and is one of the most birdie-friendly, with each of the last 13 winners of this event breaking 18 under-par.

Thus, this tournament often serves as a nice tune-up and confident boost before the British Open in two weeks.

But unlike in years prior, the John Deere Classic 2023 is not a British Open qualifying event, which has led to a somewhat diluted 2023 John Deere Classic field.

The top-ranked player competing this week is No. 19 Cameron Young, who is listed at 16-1.

That trails only Denny McCarthy (14-1) in the latest 2023 John Deere Classic odds, with other contenders including Russell Henley (16-1), Adam Hadwin (22-1), and defending champion J.T. Poston (35-1).
