Let’s start on the women’s side, where we find a great surprise. The Czech Karolina Muchová, world number 43, eliminated in the semifinals the second-best in the world, the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, by 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), and 7-5.

Sabalenka, who had won the Australian Open, had only lost 1 game in this year’s Grand Slams and it had been in the Australian final. Besides that, in the third set she was 5-2 up and had a match point, so what the Czech did was quite heroic.

Muchová’s victory was very surprising because, in addition to being her first major final (she had managed to be a finalist 2 times in 2019 of International -today WTA 250- being champion in 1), she denied the fans the possibility of seeing in the final the number 1 and 2 in the world.

The Czech had managed to eliminate in the first round the number 8 seed, the Greek Maria Sakkari, showing that she had serious intentions in this tournament. Now the 26-year-old tennis player will face the world number 1, Iga Swiatek, who defeated the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-2, 7-6 (7), and will now go for her fourth Grand Slam, third in Paris and second in a row.

Swiatek, who already this year was champion in Stuttgart and Doha, as well as a finalist in Dubai and Madrid, has not lost a single set in the whole tournament and before the semifinal, her games had not lasted more than 1 hour, and a half.

The Polish has everything on her side and is the favorite in the odds, although twice she faced Muchová in 2019 and 2020, both times in the Czech Republic, and both times she lost.

Karolina Muchová vs. Iga Swiatek Betting Pick: Iga Swiatek

On the men’s side, Novak Djokovic was the first to reach the final after beating world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 in 3 hours and 23 minutes. The Spanish suffered cramps and was injured before the start of the third set and it was evident in the match, as the last two sets were easy for the Serbian.

Nole continues to break records and at the age of 36, he reaches his 34th Grand Slam final, equaling Christine Evert as the most ever, and will try to win his 23rd title to surpass Rafael Nadal and become the most successful player in history.

It has been a great tournament for the Balkan who has only lost 1 set against Karen Kachanov in the quarterfinals and now 1 set versus Alcaraz. The Spanish, who was the favorite on Friday, had only lost 1 set against Daniel Taro in the second round and was looking for his second Grand Slam final after being champion at the US Open in 2022.

Djokovic took revenge for last year’s semifinals at the Madrid Masters 1000, when Alcaraz had eliminated him, and will now face Casper Ruud, who crushed Alexander Zverev in the other semifinal.

The Norwegian won with sets of 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 in 2 hours and 9 minutes, and reached his third Grand Slam final and second in Paris. He will go for his first title in one of the 4 majors.

The 24-year-old was very good this Friday and was far superior to the German, but now he will try to defeat Djokovic for the first time after losing 5 games in which he has not even been able to win a set. The last time they met was in the final of the ATP World Tour Finals and the Serb defeated him 7-5, 6-3. Last year Ruud reached the Roland Garros final and lost to Rafael Nadal in 3 sets.

Novak Djokovic vs. Casper Ruud Betting Pick: Novak Djokovic

Dodig was already champion at Roland Garros in 2015 and at the Australian Open in 2021, in addition to losing the Wimbledon final in 2013 and the aforementioned one in Paris last year. He also has 4 titles in mixed doubles, 2 at Roland Garros, and 2 other finals, one of them on this very stage. Vliegen was a finalist last year at Roland Garros but in mixed doubles.
