The year is beginning, and we already have the second major golf tournament, where the best golfers in the world will meet to try to lift the champion trophy and fight to take home the juicy prize of $1,368,000 for first place, of the $7,600,000 to be distributed.

After two weeks in Hawaii, the PGA Tour returns to California this week for The American Express 2022, a tournament that takes place at La Quinta’s Pete Dye Stadium Course, with $7.6 million in prize money.

Last season’s FedExCup champion Patrick Cantlay and World #1 Jon Rahm from Spain lead the field at The American Express 2022, as does Woo Kim, who outpointed Cantlay by one stroke in 2021 come back to defend him.

Where? California, EE.UU.

Patrick Cantlay hit a field record 61 in the final round a year ago, but ultimately fell one shot shy of Si Woo Kim’s winning total and, the #1 favorite to take this tournament, the American Express winner 2018, Jon Rahm, returns to action after the great doubt that was had regarding his participation in this event. This is mainly due to the large number of tournaments that Rahm is going to play at the beginning of the year because he played the Sentry and is also going to play the Farmers Insurance Open, the Phoenix Open, and the Genesis Invitational in Riviera.

In addition to Jon, the most prominent names at American Express are Patrick Cantlay, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, Scottie Scheffler, Tony Finau, and Rickie Fowler. As well, we will have a high Latin presence in this tournament, formed by Emiliano Grillo, Juan Sebastián Muñoz, Carlos Ortiz, Jhonattan Vegas, or Camilo Villegas, among others.

Each professional golfer will be grouped with amateurs for the first three rounds before the lowest rank 70 pros (and those tied) play their final round on PGA West’s Stadium Course.
