U.S. Open 2023 Preview and Betting Odds

The 2023 United States Open Championship will be the 123rd edition of the tournament, the most important golf competition in the Americas.

It is a 72-hole stroke play tournament scheduled for June 15–18 on the North Course of Los Angeles Country Club in L.A., California.

The field for the U.S. Open is made up of players who gain entry through qualifying events and those who are exempt from qualifying.

The exemption criteria include provisions for recent major champions, winners of major amateur events, and leading players in the world rankings.

Qualifying is in two stages, local and final, with some players being exempted through to final qualifying.

On July 22, 2015, the United States Golf Association (USGA) announced that Los Angeles Country Club was selected to host the 123rd U.S. Open in June 2023.

The first major championship held at the club, it will be the first men’s major in the Los Angeles area in 28 years, and the locality’s first U.S Open in 75 years.

It’s the toughest test in golf and LACC is fully expected to uphold that tradition in its debut as a U.S. Open course. The 1st round will begin on Thursday from Beverly Hills.

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world, is the betting favorite this week as he seeks to win his 1st title in this competition and 2nd career major.

Jon Rahm has the 2nd-best odds to win, followed by reigning PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka in the 3rd spot.

Defending U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick is going to try to keep the trophy this week.

Los Angeles Country Club is going to test every aspect of a player’s game, featuring wider-than-usual fairways for a U.S. Open, but also the iconic deep rough around the greens and lengthy layout.

This week, it’ll play as a par 70 at 7,421 yards, with just 3 par 5s and 5 par 3s. The par 3s will be a real brute, with 2 of them playing upwards of 280 yards, making them some of the longest in the tournament’s history. There’s also a par 3, the 15th hole, set to play under 100 yards.
