Unexpected and historic so will be the women’s final of the U.S. Open this Saturday that will star the British Emma Raducanu, 18, and Canadian Leylah Fernandez, 19. Neither Raducanu, number 150 in the WTA ranking, nor Fernandez, 73 º, needed to be seeded to reach this appointment with history. The daughter of a former Ecuadorian footballer and a Canadian mother of Filipino descent, Fernandez eliminated no less than two champions and the tournament’s second and fifth favorites to reach the final.
