Why Bet on Teofimo Lopez Jr.?

Teofimo Lopez (19-1, 13 KOs) is looking to get back in the win column after suffering the first loss of his professional career last November against George Kambosos Jr.  Despite the setback, Lopez is still considered one of the best young talents in boxing at just 26 years old.

He turned pro in 2016 at 18 years old and quickly moved up the lightweight ranks.  By 2019, he had claimed the IBF lightweight title with an impressive second-round NOCAUT over Richard Commey.

On the other hand, Teofimo has incredible power and speed for the 140-pound weight class. He has tremendous hand speed and a powerful overhand right that can finish fights in an instant. His offensive combinations are dazzling.

Why Bet on Jamaine Ortiz?

Ortiz (17-1-1, 8 KOs) will get his first world title shot on Thursday night.  The Massachusetts native has looked impressive in recent wins and earned this opportunity with Lopez by staying active. This is arguably the toughest test of Ortiz’s career thus far.

Jamaine Ortiz turned pro in 2016 after an extensive amateur career.  He amassed a 110-14 record as an amateur and won national tournaments such as the World Premier Championship and National Gold Gloves.

As a professional, he has a record of 17-1-1 with eight knockouts. His only loss came in 2023 against Lomachenko.  While it was a spectacular fight, the judges gave the unanimous decision victory to the Ukranian.

Final Betting Analysis: Teofimo Lopez Jr. vs. Jamaine Ortiz

This showdown between Teofimo Lopez and Jamaine Ortiz seemed destined to happen. Lopez was the young rising star in the lightweight division before his upset loss to George Kambosos Jr. Meanwhile, Ortiz was steadily climbing the ranks with impressive performances.

For Lopez, the key will be to keep his hands up and not get caught up in an all-out brawl. He has knockout power and quick hands, so he will want to work behind the jab and set up power combinations. Lopez should use his footwork to stay away from the ropes and go to the body early to slow Ortiz down.  If he can avoid getting caught in exchanges, Lopez should be able to work his way to a decision or late stoppage.

Ortiz will need to apply smart pressure from the opening bell. He doesn’t have Lopez’s power, so he can’t rely on landing a big shot. Instead, Teofimo needs to stay within Lopez’s range and stifle his offense. By making it a physical fight, Ortiz takes away the range in which Jamaine likes to operate. If he can work the body and back Lopez up while cutting off the ring, Ortiz has a chance to wear him down for a late stoppage.

It will be a mind-blowing bout, of that we have no doubt.  However, this time we’ll take the win for Teofimo Lopez by decision.

Go for a victory for Lopez at 1.19. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $19 for a total payout of $119.
