Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr. are two of the best lightweights in boxing today, and they will square off in a highly anticipated battle this Saturday, May 11, at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

This showdown pits the sublime boxing skills of Lomachenko against the determination and resolve of defending hometown champion Kambosos. With the possibility of becoming the undisputed lightweight king on the line, both men are highly motivated heading into this fight. It should be an intriguing stylistic showdown between two of the best at 135 pounds.

Lomachenko vs. Kambosos Jr. is a remarkable matchup between two highly-rated fighters looking to regain their place at the top of the lightweight division. While Kambosos pulled off a huge upset against Teofimo Lopez to win the belts, he looked vulnerable in losing them to Devin Haney.

Why Bet on Vasiliy Lomachenko

Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) is a two-time Olympic gold medalist from Ukraine who turned pro in 2013 and quickly rose through the ranks to win world titles in three weight classes.

He was considered by many the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world before suffering a surprise loss to Theophimo Lopez in 2020. He comes into this fight having won three of his last four fights. In October 2020, he lost by a close unanimous decision, surrendering the WBA, WBO, and WBC lightweight titles as a result.

Lomachenko bounced back with a ninth-round technical knockout win over Masayoshi Nakatani in June 2022. He followed that up with a unanimous decision win over Richard Commey in December 2021. More recently, he dominated Jamaine Ortiz, winning a wide unanimous decision in October 2022, while, in May 2023, he lost to Devin Haney by decision.

Why Bet on George Kambosos Jr.

Kambosos Jr. (21-2, 10 KOs) is the defending IBF lightweight champion from Australia. He scored the biggest win of his career in 2021 when he defeated Lopez by a split decision to take the belts in a major upset. Kambosos then lost those titles in a rematch with Devin Haney in June and October 2022. However, he bounced back with a majority decision over Maxi Hughes in July 2023 to become the IBO lightweight champion and secure this fight with Lomachenko.

George Kambosos Jr’s last four fights have been up and down. He lasted too little at the throne to establish a dynasty, and since that loss, his stakes are not as high as before. However, he showed to have the quality to be at the top.

Final Betting Analysis: Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. George Kambosos Jr.

This is shaping up to be an intense and exciting bout between two highly skilled fighters. Lomachenko is the favorite for this fight, which is unsurprising given his impeccable technical boxing skills and impressive accomplishments in the ring.

However, Kambo should not be overlooked. He showed courage and heart in defeating Teofimo Lopez to become the unified lightweight champion. Kambosos has solid fundamentals, quick hands, and good power in both fists. He also has the advantage of his hometown crowd fighting in front of his Australian fans once again.

That said, Lomachenko’s elite footwork, defense, and counter-punching skills present a challenging puzzle for any opponent to solve. He is extremely difficult to hit cleanly and almost always gets the better of exchanges on the inside. As a result, our prediction is a win for Vasiliy Lomachenko by unanimous decision.

Go for a victory for the Ukranian at 1.137. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $13.7 for a total payout of $113.7.
