The final round of the Apertura MX 2023 before the Leagues Cup meet its end yesterday night, and now we will wait with anticipation for the start of the new tournament. The league left us, before the more-than-a-month stop, with Chivas at an excellent level leading the table, followed by Monterrey and the surprise of the season at the moment, Juarez. Then we have a couple of feline teams in the form of Pumas UNAM and the current champions, Tigres.
Is too early to talk about deceptions, but we must mention América (who have a game less) in twelve place, Toluca, that started strong and yesterday surprised everyone by getting trashed at their home by Juarez, and Cruz Azul who, as it’s usually recently, started the league at a torrid level.

Where Can I Watch?
Chivas is taking the league by storm after losing the last final. After a couple of good victories, they received a weak Necaxa and easily dispatch them with a 2-0. They only allowed one shot on target, so it could be said that they controlled their rivals at will for most of the game.
Now they head to the League Cups with a hard decision to take. Focusing too much on international competition could mean losing fuel for the league. Let’s remember that this team has not finished as regular season leaders for many, many years. It is not equivalent to a title but could show excellent signs for the East European coach project before heading to the postseason.
There is not much to say for the Electricos, another season looking to scratch a place in the Liguilla Playoffs is coming, although many things could change after the stop.

Where Can I Watch?
In a usual game for Los Cañoneros, they received a big team from the country and got thrashed in their stadium. As regular, they started the season closer to the bottom of the table than to the middle of it, and now have to face international competition, something that the squad is not prepared for. Now they have to not come back with relevant injuries, and fight to evade the very bottom.
The newest franchise seems like a ghost in Liga MX, and the “anti-relegation” policy of the league seems to be bringing more harm than any good, as, sometimes, a rest in a lower-level competition is what is needed to restructure a project.
Monterrey now is in search of the top again, and will not stop in its quest for that first seed.

Where Can I Watch?
After Juarez thrashed Toluca, América’s loss to Bravos looks less surprising, and now they are just taken as the first victim of a team that is on a furious rampage. They got their match against the Gallos from Queretaro postponed and recovered with a categorical win at the Azteca. Now they’ll look to challenge for the top again as, with their more traditional and dire rivals at the top, there’s more in play than the first seed for the Liguilla.
Puebla is at a poor level, and it shows. It’s just a matter of time to see if La Franja can take advantage of the unusual stop to recover. Whatever the case, they were completely dominated and go to the Leagues Cup as second Last.
