The all-powerful Apertura MX leaders, Atlético San Luis, were surprised on Matchday 8, losing 3-2 on their visit to Pumas UNAM, due to a series of lapses in the final minutes.

Necaxa, at the bottom of the table, pulled off the surprise of the day with a 1-1 draw against Juárez, one of the leaders in the championship. Before the end of the first half, Venezuelan defender John Chancellor cleared the ball towards his goal and decreed the final tie.

Pumas returned to winning ways with an unexpected 3-2 victory over the best team in the Apertura MX, Atlético San Luis. And it was a comeback, as the visitors took the lead with a header from a corner kick by Julio César Domínguez.

At 69′, Juan Ignacio Dinenno equalized from the heart of the area, but Vitinho put the visitors back on top at 81′ with a header. However, the ‘Felinos’ did not give up, at 86′ César Huerta equalized with a cross-shot, and at 90+3′ Gabriel Fernández headed in to seal the result.

San Luis remains at the top of the table with 16 points, while Pumas is ninth with 12 points.

Atlas won an important 2-0 victory at home against Tigres, which was the big loser of the day, as it dropped from second place to fourth, squandering the opportunity to be leaders.
