The current Mexican soccer champions, Atlas, begin to suffer in this Liga MX Clausura 2022 tournament, so the pothole in which they had fallen continues. This Wednesday, they lost for a second time in a row at home, this time against Pachuca. Atlas accumulates 4 consecutive games without winning and, in these 12 disputed points, only adds 2 points. For its part, Pachuca continues to demonstrate its high level of play and is the leader of the tournament.
The expectations for this match were very high, both teams came hungry for victory, so there was a very exciting atmosphere and, above all, very intense, an Atlas that needed to recover the path of victory, while Pachuca living a great moment and wanting to be at the top of the standings.
First Half
The initiative in this game was taken by Pachuca, since, at minute 9, Avilés Hurtado managed to enter through the center and outside the area, and he shot at the goal with his right leg. Powerful, low, and crossed, the shot barely passes by one side of the Atlas arch.
Later, at minute 23, Pachuca continued to provoke the Atlas defense. Kevin Álvarez from long-distance releases the powerful right hand, but it goes over the crossbar. Atlas responds from the right, with Javier Abella who launched across to the first post where Julio Furch managed to finish off the ball but without creating any danger for the rival goalkeeper.
The first half was ending and the teams had not done any kind of damage. Jairo Torres tried from outside the area with a shot from his right leg. In this play, he leaves the loot and connects with Miguel Tapias. The referee had shown a yellow card, but from the VAR they appreciate a harsh foul and request a review. After seeing the repetitions, the main referee changes the decision and expels the Atlas footballer, in added time.
Second Half
The second half began with a grown Pachuca, since, playing with one more player on the court, they could do a lot of damage to Atlas in different parts of the field. Atlas, understanding their complicated situation, decided to close up defending and began to give the ball to Pachuca.
Pachuca could not penetrate the defense of Atlas. Both teams tried to attack everywhere, but the goal did not come at the Jalisco Stadium.
It was not until the 86th minute when Hurtado accelerated his spring, passed to the center for Navarro, and he, in turn, opened the ball to the right side and threw a pass to the area where Roberto de la Rosa was, which he finished off and was covered by goalkeeper Vargas, leaving a rebound that fell again at Roberto’s feet and he converted the winning goal for Pachuca.
