The 2024 Brasileirão season is underway, and all the teams are playing their cards close to their chest as they try to pick up important victories at the start of the campaign.

So far, we have a few surprises in just two games played, as newly promoted Juventude are in third place in the table after a win and a draw in their first two games. Cruzeiro also played well at the start of the season, while Palmeiras and Grêmio disappointed a little by losing one of their two matches.

Nevertheless, we have enjoyed two interesting matchdays with plenty of excitement and, above all, plenty of goals, as 46 goals have been scored so far this season.

Now, we bring you the summary of what happened in the most interesting matches of this second matchday of the 2024 Brasileirão season.

The match between Bahia and Fluminense started strangely, but in the end, the home team could get the better of the home side and take the three points with a 2-1 victory.

Fluminense started this match in tune and managed to surprise the still-sleeping Bahia defense in the 4th minute with a goal by Germán Cano. However, this was the only dangerous thing for the visiting team in this match, as, after this goal, they completely disappeared from the field.

Then, after several incessant attacks, Bahia managed to equalize the match in the 34th minute, thanks to Caio Alexandre’s goal. With the match 1-1, both teams went to the break with the mission to turn the situation around and score the goal that would lead them to victory in the second half.

Finally, in the 61st minute, Cruz Oliveira Souza scored the definitive 2-1 for Bahia to take the victory with an excellent score of 2-1.

One of the best matches of the day was undoubtedly between Grêmio and Atlético Paranaense. Both teams played at a high level, but in the end, the home team won the match with a convincing 2-0 victory.

The match was very intense, as the ball was shared between the two teams throughout the 90 minutes. However, Grêmio’s defense was impenetrable, as Athletico-PR couldn’t get a shot on goal even once in the entire match.

It all started with Grêmio overwhelming the defense of the visiting squad, and in the 19th minute, Franco Cristaldo scored 1-0 for the team. After the goal, the home team’s offense became much more confident, but they could not translate it into a goal before the end of the first half.

Then, in the second half, Venezuelan striker Yeferson Soteldo put the game to bed to lead Grêmio to an excellent 2-0 victory.

Result: Grêmio (2) – (0) Athletico-PR

One of the surprises of Matchday 2 of the Brasileirão was, undoubtedly, the defeat of Palmeiras at home to Internacional with a score of 0-1. The Verdão couldn’t translate their dominance into goals and were surprised at home.

The match was tilted in favor of Palmeiras, as they had as many as 18 scoring chances with three shots on goal. In addition, they had 64% of the possession of the ball, so it was expected that, at any moment, the team would score a goal. However, Internacional’s defense held up perfectly, and they took advantage of defensive lapses by Palmeiras to score the only goal of the match.

Just before the end of the first half, Wesley Ribeiro Silva scored Internacional’s goal to put the game away.

Result: Palmeiras (0) – (1) Internacional

Brasileirão Matchday 2: Flamengo vs. São Paulo

Finally, Flamengo and São Paulo gave us the best match of this second day of the Brasileirão, as both teams had many opportunities to go ahead on the scoreboard, but the defenses worked well.

Flamengo started with everything in this match, taking advantage of their local condition and taking the lead on the scoreboard in the 20th minute, after Luiz Araújo’s goal. From this point on, we enjoyed a real give-and-take, with each team playing at their best to try to take the lead. However, the game went to the break with the score at 1-0.

Then, at the start of the second half, Flamengo scored the second goal in the 54th minute through Nicolás de la Cruz Arcosa. That, in addition to giving the team confidence, also helped to face the rest of the match with relative tranquility.

Finally, in the 79th minute, Ferreira scored a consolation goal for Sao Paulo, giving them a 1-2 score.

Result: Flamengo (2) – (1) São Paulo
