Carlos Alberto Rodríguez is a Mexican soccer player who was born on January 3, 1997, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. His nickname in Mexican soccer is Charly and currently plays for Cruz Azul in the first division, in the midfield position.
“Charly” First Years
Due to his roots, Rodríguez began his sports career in the lower categories of Monterrey; a team with which he managed to make his professional debut in 2016, in a match corresponding to the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League, against Don Bosco. Then, he was on a loan for two seasons to Toledo, where he played 30 games and scored 3 goals.
In the 2018-19 season, Carlos Rodríguez returns to Monterrey and makes his Liga MX debut in October 2018, in a 2-1 victory for his team against Toluca. Playing games as a starter and others as a substitute, it was not until February 2019, when he debuted with a goal in the first division of Mexican soccer, in Monterrey’s 3-2 victory against Monarcas Morelia.

In the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League, Charly managed to prove his worth to the team; as he provided a spectacular flow of play on the field for Monterrey to win the final against Tigres UANL.
Another good participation that Charly has had in his career was in the 2019 Club World Cup when Monterrey faced Al-Sadd. Then Rodríguez managed to score his team’s third goal, which would finally give him victory with a score of 3-2.
As for the Mexican national team, Carlos Alberto Rodríguez is summoned by Tata Martino in 2019 for a friendly against Chile where he played as a starter. Later, he was also part of the Mexico team of the 2019 Gold Cup; in which he played all the games of the Mexican team in this tournament.
