Columbus Crew are the reigning MLS champions, so it is no surprise they find themselves in this CONCACAF Champions Cup. The team is currently in fourth place in the MLS Eastern Conference with a record of three wins, five draws, and one loss, five points behind Inter Miami at the top.
However, in this Champions Cup, they got off to a great start with a 2-1 aggregate win over Houston Dynamo in the Round of 16. Then, in the quarterfinals, they had a much more complicated task, as they had to face Tigres UANL of Liga MX, and after a 2-2 aggregate score, they had to go to a penalty shootout to decide who would qualify.
