Crystal Palace vs. Leicester Preview and Free Pick

Last Updated on March 30, 2023 5:10 pm by Erwin Noguera

This Saturday, we have an interesting game on the 29th matchday of the Premier League, and we are eager to get into it.

For this match we’ll get some good English flavor, as two regular Premier League teams from the last decade battle to evade the drop.

Crystal Palace is currently the 12th placed team at 6 wins, 9 draws, and 13 losses so far, and they are trying to pick up the pace, coming in from a draw and 4 defeats in their last matches.

Leicester City is the 17th placed team, with 7 wins, 4 draws, and 16 losses, and they need to get things together, as they are only 2 points behind their opponents, but their results haven’t been as good.

This should be quite entertaining for Premier League fans, the stakes aren’t too high so we can all relax and chill as we watch everything unfold.

Why Bet on Crystal Palace?

The good old Eagles are then again in a dire situation regarding their Premier League status. They always seemed like overachievers considering they have become regulars, even with one of the cheapest squads in the league. This tournament all pointed towards another quiet midtable season but all went south after the World Cup, to the point that Patrick Vieira got the sack and Roy Hodgson returned.

With just 3 points separating them from the red zone, a single bad matchday from now on is enough to put them in dropping positions. Not all of it’s their fault, their terrible streak in the last few months came from the horrible calendar they faced, with the entire big six, Newcastle and Brighton in just 11 rounds. So, things will get calmer from now on and they should take advantage of that.

Vicente Guaita is in contention to start for Palace as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury, with the goalkeeper taking part in first-team training this week. Sam Johnstone is also close to a return. Joachim Andersen is a doubt after pulling out of the Denmark squad having picked up an injury in the warm-up against Arsenal before the international break.

Why Bet on Leicester?

Leicester is another great Premier League team who fell in disgrace this season, alongside West Ham. The Foxes got in a difficult situation due to the economic blow that COVID mean to their owners, and this combined with the failed bet to enter the Champions League, left the team with peanuts to face the transfer market, and an aging squad, having the likes of Evans, Vardy, Pereira, and Albrighton far from their prime. This, alongside the departure of club legend Schmeichel, let the team weakened in the sporting and psychological front.

Brendan Rogers is not happy and he has let the owners know that. But with the team battling relegation, no money in the meantime, and few options for a replacement, his reign will likely continue at least until the end of the season. What everyone knows is that the drop in this situation would mean a lot of problems, so they must survive.

Harry Souttar is a fitness concern for Leicester after he returned early from international duty. The defender got an ankle injury in Australia’s win over Ecuador, and a late decision will come over his availability against Palace in the next few hours. Jonny Evans could also miss out with a muscle injury, while Youri Tielemans remains on the sidelines with an ankle problem.

Final Betting Analysis: Crystal Palace vs. Leicester

The return of Hodgson will surely give Palace some sort of lift, though it’s unlikely to bring a swift return to goalscoring form.

Neither side is convincing at all and with it likely to be a tense encounter with so much on the line, the points could well be shared.

We are expecting this match to end in a draw, with both teams scoring and showing the same deficiencies they have had since the beginning of the tournament.

Go for a draw in this match at +224. If you bet $100 at the draw with these odds you could get up to $224, for a total payout of $324.
