The Liga MX Clausura Tournament is still in full swing, and the 15th matchday of the league has just ended. This means we are very close to knowing which teams will be present in the next Liguilla.
Monterrey lost for the second time in a row and is now only four points ahead of its closest rival, América. Nevertheless, the Águilas won the Mexican capital’s classic against Cruz Azul 3-1, consolidating their place in the top four of the table.
Chivas surprised Leon 2-0 and moved into fourth place, while Toluca, despite losing on the last matchday, remains momentarily in direct Liguilla places.
Pachuca and Tigres seem to have run out of gas, as they have not achieved their performance in the tournament’s first half. Finally, Necaxa, Juárez, and Mazatlán seem to be the teams that will fall by the wayside in the next round.

América defeated Cruz Azul 3-1 in the Clásico Joven on matchday 15 of the Clausura 2023 last Saturday at the Estadio Azteca.
In their last two meetings, América has scored ten goals against Cruz Azul, its most important rival in Liga MX. In the Apertura 2022, Cruz Azul was humiliated with a scandalous 7-0 scoreline, the highest score in the history of the rivalry.
With Saturday’s result, América’s winning streak extends to five games. To advance directly to the Playoffs, the Azulcrema team must finish the regular phase of the Clausura tournament in the top four places, and they have it practically done.
With Toluca’s poor performance against Pumas on Sunday, Fernando Tano Ortiz’s club is currently in second place overall with 30 points. With two goals, Alejandro Zendejas led the Azulcrema attack while wearing a protective mask due to a nose injury. Henry Martín added a goal in the win to take his tally to 13, moving him to the top of the Clausura 2023 scoring charts.
Meanwhile, Cruz Azul saw its five-game unbeaten streak come to an end. With 21 points, “La Máquina” no longer has a chance of qualifying directly for the Liguilla.

On matchday 15 of the Clausura 2023 Liga MX Tournament, Chivas de Guadalajara achieved a crucial 2-0 victory in their visit to Club León. As a result, it remained in the fight for the direct playoff places.
The Rebaño Sagrado defeated La Fiera to earn three points that put them in third place overall with 28 points after 15 games, thanks to goals from Pavel Pérez and Rubén “el Oso” González.
León looked more dangerous in the first few minutes and even had a chance to score after a shot by Lucas Di Yorio, although this goal was finally disallowed for offside by the La Fiera attacker. Querétaro is out of the Clausura 2023 playoffs after the draw with Tigres because they will finish last in the percentage table, even though they are in the top 12.
The Matchday 15 game between Querétaro and Tigres ended in a draw, but the Roosters will no longer be able to overtake Xolos de Tijuana in the quotient table; by finishing last in the percentage table, the regulations indicate that they will not be able to qualify for the Liguilla, even if they are among the top 12.
It is important to note that in an “ideal scenario”, they would have been relegated to the Liga de Ampliación; however, due to the new competition structure, Querétaro will remain in this division.
In contrast, Tigres continues to struggle in Liga MX. Despite earning a point in this scoreless draw, they missed the opportunity to advance to the top spots on Date 15 of the Clausura 2023.
