The Masters Tournament is the first major golf championship of the year, played annually at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Founded by legendary golfer Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts, the tournament was first played in 1934 and it is considered one of the most prestigious in sports.

2024 Masters Tournament: The Course

The world’s most famous golf course, Augusta National Golf Club, will welcome visitors for the 2024 Masters beginning Thursday, April 11. A lifetime invitation is one of the greatest benefits of winning a green jacket, and it is anticipated that the 2024 field will include 18 elite winners.

Widely considered one of the finest and most beautiful golf courses in the world, the 7,475-yard, par-72 layout winds through the Georgia pines and features dramatic elevation changes, ultra-fast greens, and some of golf’s most famous holes, including the par-3 12th and the risk-rewarding par-5 15th.

With its lush fairways, azalea-lined holes, and famous Amen corner stretch, Augusta National offers one of the ultimate tests in golf. The winner receives the coveted green jacket, a lifetime invitation to return to the Masters, and a place in golf history among the tournament’s great champions.

2024 Masters Tournament – Betting picks

Defending champion Jon Rahm will be looking to become the first repeat winner at Augusta since Tiger Woods won back-to-back in 2001-2002. Rahm won his first green jacket in 2023 after a thrilling duel with Rory McIlroy. The Spaniard made clutch putts down the stretch, including a frizzled 10-footer for birdie on 18 to force a playoff with McIlroy. On the first playoff hole, Rahm drained a slippery 12-footer for a birdie to win.

Rahm will have a lot of work ahead of him to go back-to-back. Augusta’s rolling hills and ultra-fast greens humble even the best in the game. But if anyone has the skill and mental fortitude to do it, Rahm is on that shortlist. His elite ball striking, creativity on the greens, and putting make him a formidable foe at Augusta.

Apart from him, the 2024 Masters will feature a stacked field of the world’s best golfers, but a few stand out as the top favorites heading into the tournament.

World #1 and reigning Masters champion Scottie Scheffler enters Augusta looking to defend his green jacket. Scheffler has continued his stellar form from 2022, claiming a victory at The Players this season.

Former world #1 Rory McIlroy is still looking for the final grand slam piece of his career at Augusta National. McIlroy has found strong form over the past year and appears poised to finally capture the green jacket in 2024. Equally, it is notable that he is not at the peak of his form, having underperformed this season.

As well as them, we also have Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, and Will Zalatoris, who are all in with a chance of being protagonists in this 2024 Masters Tournament.
