The Augusta Masters will take place in April. However, before that, several of the best golfers in the world will meet to play the Texas Children’s Houston Open at the Memorial Park Municipal Golf Course in Houston, Texas.

This is one of the best preparations for the major, and that is why four of the best golfers in the world will meet in this competition, which runs from March 28 to 31.

Where can I watch it?

2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open Top Contenders

The first great candidate for this tournament on Texan soil is Scottie Scheffler, the best golfer in the world today, as indicated by the PGA Tour rankings.

Although born in New Jersey, Scheffler lives in Dallas, so he will be a local at Memorial Park Municipal Golf Course.

In 2023, he won the WM Phoenix Open and The Players Championship. This year, he won two more, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and in March, he won again The Players Championship, of which he is already a two-time champion at the age of 27.

In terms of majors, he has already won in Augusta, and in the Houston tournament, he finished second in 2021, being surpassed by his compatriot Jason Kokrak.

The second top contender is Wyndham Clark, who last year, won the first major of his career, celebrating the U.S. Open.

Clark, 30, has only three titles in his career, all between 2023 and 2024. In addition to the major, he captured the Wells Fargo Championship last year and, last February, earned the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am for his trophy case.

Wyndham Clark is second in the ranking, and far behind, in 55th place, is Tony Finau, who arrives as the reigning champion in Houston.

In 2023, the American Finau finished with 264, 16 under par, which was enough to beat Tyson Alexander. The 34-year-old golfer has other victories, such as the 3M Open, Rocket Mortgage Classic, and last year’s Mexico Open.

Closing the group of top candidates is the American Will Zalatoris, who has the FedEx St. Jude Championship in 2022 as his greatest triumph.

In addition to those already mentioned, more names can have a good run and achieve an important triumph for the future of 2024, as is the case of Sahith Theegala.

At 26 years old, he is fifth in the world for the PGA, and it must be remembered that he just made his debut in 2020. Last year, he was ninth at the Augusta Masters and was able to celebrate the Fortinet Championship in September.

Also from the United States comes Jake Knapp, while among the internationals, two names can be highlighted: Jayson Day and Kim Si-Woo.

The 36-year-old Australian Day is 16th in the rankings and has 13 career victories on the PGA Tour. The most notable is the PGA Championship in 2015, a year before he also won The Players Championship.

His last victory was at the AT&T Byron Nelson in 2023, the same year Si-Woo lifted the Sony Open in Hawaii. The South Korean has shouted four times champion in his career.

Let’s close with Keith Mitchell, who had his only win in 2019 at The Honda Classic, while he placed 20th at the U.S. Open last year.
