2025 Rocket Classic: Top Contenders

Can Collin Morikawa break his title drought? That’s the big question on everyone’s mind. The American enters this tournament as a top favorite to take home the trophy and win his first title since the 2023 ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP. He came close last year, losing this event in a playoff.

So far in 2025, he has been runner-up at The Sentry and the Arnold Palmer Invitational and finished 10th at THE PLAYERS Championship. Those are his only three Top 10 finishes this year. His recent form hasn’t been great, with a 20th place at the Memorial Tournament being his best result over the last four events. He finished 42nd at the Travelers Championship last week.

On the other hand, Keegan Bradley arrives full of confidence. The 39-year-old American is fresh off winning the Travelers Championship—his first title of 2025 and eighth overall on the PGA Tour. His last win came at the 2024 BMW Championship.

In addition to his recent victory, Bradley has four other Top 10 finishes this season, highlighted by an eighth-place finish at the PGA Championship. Impressively, he has only missed the cut once in 15 events this year—at the Masters Tournament.

One of the standout golfers of 2025 has been Ben Griffin. The 29-year-old American captured his first two PGA Tour titles this season at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and the Charles Schwab Challenge.

He was also runner-up at the Memorial Tournament and has five other Top 10 finishes, including an eighth-place result at the PGA Championship. Griffin has been remarkably consistent, finishing in the Top 15 in each of his last five events, including a 10th place at the U.S. Open and 14th at the Travelers Championship.

2025 Rocket Classic: Outside picks

Patrick Cantlay is another golfer who hasn’t lifted a trophy in quite some time. His last win came at the 2022 BMW Championship, and he’s now chasing his ninth PGA Tour title. He has three Top 10 finishes in 2025 and has only missed the cut in two tournaments—unfortunately, those were the last two Majors: the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open. Most recently, he finished 12th at the Travelers Championship. It’s worth noting that he was runner-up at this course back in 2022.

Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama started 2025 on a high note, winning The Sentry—the season’s opening event. However, his form has since declined. He hasn’t registered another Top 10 finish this year, with his best result aside from that win being 13th place at The Genesis Invitational in February.

And finally, we have to mention the defending champion and the tournament’s all-time leader in wins: Cam Davis. The 30-year-old Australian has just two career PGA Tour victories, both of which came at this event—so there’s no doubt this course suits him. However, 2025 hasn’t been kind to him, with just one Top 10 finish all season (a 5th place at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in early February) and eight missed cuts in the 18 events he’s played so far this year.
