Jaguars vs. Panthers Betting Odds and Free Pick

Last Updated on December 29, 2023 3:36 pm by Erwin Noguera

We are on the 17th week out of 18 in the regular NFL Season. Things are tight in the race for the playoff spots, as every team is going all out to secure their place.

We are currently looking at the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 1st in the AFC South and need to win and break their 4-match losing streak to keep their spot. The AFC South has a triple tie for the lead, and the Colts and Texans only need one good game to take over.

They might have their shot, as their opponents are the Carolina Panthers, the worst team in the NFL, with two victories and 13 losses.

If the Jags fail to win this game, we will finally confirm that they are not made for the postseason, so they must go all out.

When:

Sunday, December 31st at 1:00 PM ET at TIAA Bank Field

Panthers 2.782

Why Bet on the Jaguars?

Between the end of last season and the beginning of this one, the Jags looked like a different team, winning games at a great rate. A couple of months ago, we all took for granted that the division was theirs, but the fall in performance has been remarkable.

The Jaguars have fallen to 8-7 amid a four-game losing streak. They risk falling out of a chance to win the AFC South with another loss and wins this week by the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has seemingly had a new injury each week, starting with a high ankle sprain and a concussion before capping it with a shoulder sprain in last week’s 30-12 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If Lawrence can’t go this week, C.J. Beathard will take over at quarterback.

Why Bet on the Panthers?

The Carolina franchise is accustomed to being one of the worst teams in the NFC. Except for last season, they have been dwelling between the bottom two places of their division, more commonly the last one. Since their last postseason qualification in the 17-18 edition, they have looked like a ghost sorrowing in the NFL.

However, this season, they have had it worse. At 2-13, they hold the worst record in the NFL, but because of the trade to acquire quarterback Bryce Young in April’s NFL Draft, their first-round pick in 2024 will go to the Chicago Bears.

Under interim head coach Chris Tabor, Carolina had their best offensive output in a 33-30 loss last week to the Green Bay Packers, with Young throwing for 312 yards and two touchdowns, both to former Jag D.J. Chark.

Jaguars vs. Panthers Final Betting Analysis:

The Jaguars have lost four straight games and have looked awful in doing so. But Carolina isn’t a good team, although Bryce Young was better last week.

The health of Trevor Lawrence is key here. However, even if he doesn’t play, the Jaguars will win this one to stay atop the AFC South standings.

We expect a close match, but the Jags will break their losing streak and remain at the top until next week, keeping the tension high in the AFC South a little longer.

Go for a victory for the locals at 1.45. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $45.00 for a total payout of $145.00.
