The Mifel Open is an ATP Tour 250 series men’s tennis tournament held annually in Los Cabos, Mexico. This year marks the eighth edition of the event, which will be held between February 19 and 24, 2024, at the Luxury Collection Resort in San Jose del Cabo.

Located on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula along the Sea of Cortez, Los Cabos is known for its beautiful beaches, desert landscapes, and world-class resorts and hotels.

Held for the first time in 2016, the Mifel Open has quickly established itself as one of the most important tennis tournaments in Latin America. The best men’s players from around the world come to compete each year for a share of the prize money, which in this 2024 edition, will be $9,915,245 and, above all, for crucial ATP ranking points.

With the 2024 tournament just around the corner, excitement is building for the upcoming battles on the challenging outdoor courts in Los Cabos.  Expect a strong field of players, with reigning champion Stefanos Tsitsipas and other top names in men’s tennis today.

The 2024 edition of the Mifel Open will feature a 28-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. As mentioned, the total prize money this year is $9,915,245.

The tournament will be played on outdoor hard courts, which is a medium-paced surface. The courts at the Los Cabos venue are made of a durable acrylic material called DecoTurf, the same surface used at the US Open.

Given the prestige of the event and the ranking points available, the Mifel Open generally attracts a strong field of players. However, conditions in Los Cabos can be quite windy, which challenges players’ timing and makes it difficult to execute clean shots. Controlling the ball in windy conditions often determines success or failure.

The tournament venue is located in the resort’s excellent tennis facilities, which include eight hard courts and six clay courts. The center court stadium offers spectators panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez. In addition, fans can watch matches while relaxing by the pool or from private cabanas.

Mifel Open by Telcel Oppo 2024 – Betting picks

The Mifel Open 2024 will be an exciting tournament with several top players vying for the title of this ATP 250 Series tournament. Defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas will be looking to retain his singles crown obtained in 2023 but faces stiff competition from the likes of Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, and Casper Ruud.

Tsitsipas has proven he can win on the hard courts of Los Cabos, using his game to outplay his opponents. However, Zverev’s aggressive baseline game makes him a threat, along with rising star Alex de Minaur, who played in the singles final against Tsitsipas in the 2023 edition. Meanwhile, Ruud’s consistency from the baseline could pose problems.

It’s also worth watching the progress of young guns like Jack Draper. His big left-handed serve and forehand make him dangerous. Other dark horses include Daniel Evans, with his variety and touch.

While Tsitsipas is the favorite, coming in as the defending champion, the depth of talent makes this tournament difficult to predict. Zverev, Rune, and de Minaur seem more likely to derail Tsitsipas’ chances if they display their full potential. However, Ruud’s consistency or Draper’s aggressive play could also produce some upsets.
