UFC Fight Night: Gastelum and Whittaker Are Finally Set to Meet

On Saturday, April 17, the Australian Kelvin Gastelum will face the American Robert Whittaker, in what will be the UFC Fight Night, a match that had been postponed in 2019, where The Reaper had to undergo surgery hours before the fight due to internal hernias and intestinal problems.

A very similar case had to happen so that this match could take place since in the first instance this was not the scheduled match since it was the Brazilian Paulo Costa who would face the Australian, and that on March 16 would withdraw from the fight due to illness, so after two years we will enjoy this fight that will take place in the UFC Apex, located in Las Vegas and will be broadcast by ESPN + from 21 hours, central time in Mexico.

Let’s review the career of Robert Whittaker:

The Reaper has almost 12 years competing within the UFC, where until 2014 he was within the Welterweight division, and that same year he switched to the Middleweight division, and in both, he has fought 27 times, where he has a record of 23 wins, 9 by KO and 5 losses. He is currently a former Middleweight champion in the UFC, ranked #1 in the Middleweight rankings and ranked #13 in the UFC men’s pound for pound rankings.

Whittaker comes from two consecutive wins, both disputed last year, the first one we will review is the victory against Darren Till, which was in the UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till, disputed at the Flash Forum in Abu Dhabi on July 25, where he won by unanimous decision in round 3, in the same venue also disputed his last fight on October 24, when he defeated American Jared Cannonier by unanimous decision in the third round, allowing him to arrive with a positive record before the fight against Gastelum.
