The 13th matchday of Liga MX did not disappoint in terms of action on the field, as every match featured at least two goals, with some games reaching as many as eight goals.
Toluca continues to dominate, extending their winning streak to seven consecutive victories. Meanwhile, Cruz Azul and América engaged in a fiercely contested battle, and Monterrey and Pachuca managed to secure a point each. Tigres also made headlines with an offensively aggressive performance that likely thrilled their fans.
The competition at the top remains intriguing, as Toluca has established a four-point lead over second-placed Cruz Azul. However, teams ranked between second and fifth have the potential to accelerate their efforts and challenge the current leaders, with four matchdays remaining in the season.

Liga MX Apertura Matchday 13 Roundup: Tigres vs. Necaxa
Tigres -196 | Necaxa +454 | Retiros: +333 |
To be honest, even though the hosts and expected winners secured the three points in this match, we must commend Necaxa for their effort. We didn’t expect much from them in this encounter, and although they conceded three goals in the first half, they were the first to score. They also managed to equalize right before halftime, showing impressive resilience.
While they did score a third goal later on, by that point, their opponents had already inflicted too much damage. Nonetheless, Necaxa put Tigres under pressure and made what was meant to be an easy win quite challenging for them, so we applaud Necaxa for their performance.
Result: Tigres 5-3 Necaxa
Liga MX Apertura Matchday 13 Roundup: Toluca vs. Queretaro
Toluca -435 | Queretaro +830 | Draw Offs: +550 |
With Querétaro sitting in 16th place on the table and Toluca having an impressive run so far this season, the results of this matchup were somewhat disappointing. We expected the hosts to put on a much more exciting display.
The first three goals came within the first 30 minutes, making it clear that Toluca would secure the three points. While we anticipated more goals, Toluca slowed down in the second half, only adding one more in the 66th minute, effectively extinguishing any hopes of a comeback from Querétaro.
Result: Toluca 4-0 Queretaro
Liga MX Apertura Matchday 13 Roundup: Monterrey vs Pumas
Monterrey -135 | Pumas +348 | Draw Offs: +262 |
When comparing this match to the two exciting games we previously analyzed, it’s clear that this one was rather uneventful. While both teams appeared to be evenly matched throughout the game, this unfortunately resulted in a lack of action. Each team scored their only goal just before halftime, leaving us feeling a bit disappointed with the overall clash. However, at least both sides managed to earn a point.
Result: Monterrey 1-1 Pumas
Liga MX Apertura Matchday 13 Roundup: Cruz Azul vs América
Cruz Azul +137 | America +170 | Draw Offs: +248 |
The match that allowed Cruz Azul to secure the second spot on the board was quite enjoyable to watch, but we feel that we didn’t see the full potential of one of the teams.
The hosts did well to find an equalizer after the visiting Club América scored the first goal in the 33rd minute. Gabril Fernandez’s quick response was a confidence booster for the team and their supporters. However, in terms of quality, America appeared to be sharper. They took fewer attempts but managed to score easily when they pressed forward. Unfortunately, it seemed the hosts were simply more determined, as they needed more tries to make their mark. Ultimately, Cruz Azul not only equalized but also found the net again midway through the second half through sheer pressure.
Result: Cruz Azul 2-1 America
