Brasileirão Serie A Perfil: Pedrinho

Last Updated on septiembre 2, 2022 3:22 pm by Erwin Noguera

Born in 1988, in the beautiful city of Maceió, which is known as the Brazilian CaribbeanPedrinho represents the personification of the vast majority of Jogo Bonito players in Brazilian football; skinny, of humble origins, and with an above-average technique.

He started his career at CSA, a team from his hometown. Then in 2013, he went to play in the academies of Corinthians and 4 years later, he was elected the best player in the 2017 edition of Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, which is the biggest youth competition held in Brazil and which has already revealed countless stars such as Neymar, Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, and Casemiro.

The now Atlético Mineiro player had an important start to his career at Corinthians; passing then to Benfica, passed by Shakhtar Donetsk, and only then returned to Brazil.

The biggest achievement of the young Pedrinho’s career so far was the 2017 Brasileirão title con Corinthians.

Pedrinho – Characteristics

Pedrinho is a left-footed attacking midfielder, fast and with a good shot from outside the box. He can play as a right winger in attack and various positions in midfield. Early on he excelled at Corinthians playing on the right side of the field. Always uses his left leg to dribble towards the goal and create opportunities for his teammates.

He also has a good vision, which helps him to see his teammates moving into spaces. The lightness of his game led him to the Brazilian U23 national team in 2019 and 2020. For Atlético Mineiro, he played on the right side of midfield, but he still didn’t have many minutes in the Brazilian last champion team.

His greatest struggles are the physical duels because his body does not handle too much pressure and, because of that, he loses the ball often in those situations.

Pedrinho – Current Performance

Before returning to Brazil, Pedrinho was playing for Shakhtar Donetsk, from Ukraine; but due to the war with Russia, football in the country was on pause and he had to play for another club.

The years 2017 and 2018 were the ones in which Pedrinho most often entered the field when he was still playing for Corinthians. At Benfica, he played 31 matches, scored just one goal, and provided three assists. In Ukraine, he played 19 times for Shakhtar, scored 4 goals, and provided 2 assists.

On his return to Atlético Mineiro, he played 8 matches, but still without direct participation in the team’s goals. The athlete has not started in the first team and, recently, suffered a hamstring injury and will be out of the team for a few weeks.

Let’s see if, after recovery, Pedrinho returns to show the football that enchanted Brazilian fans and made Benfica pay a high price for his signing.
