With a few games remaining in the regular season, these matchups will go a long way toward shaping the outlook for each division. So, here’s a preview of the best matchups for the start of Week 6 of the 2024 MLB season.

The Yankees have dominated the Orioles in recent years, winning the season series the last six seasons. They will look to continue that success when these division foes meet again this week.

The Milwaukee Brewers (17-10) will face the Tampa Bay Rays (13-6) in an interleague showdown this week. This series features two teams battling for the top spots in their respective divisions.

The Brewers currently lead the National League Central division, while the Rays are fourth in the competitive American League East. Milwaukee has been led by star catcher William Contreras, who leads the team in home runs (5) and RBIs (22). The pitching staff has Freddy Peralta and Elvis Peguero as the team’s best starters.

Milwaukee comes into this week’s opener after being annihilated by the Yankees 5-15.

For the Rays, Isaac Paredes and Amed Rosario have paced the offense. On the mound, Garrett Cleavinger has become the ace of the staff, posting a 2.45 ERA and 15K. Tampa’s pitching and defensive depth give them an advantage most nights.

The Rays are coming off series losses to the White Sox by scores of 4-9, 7-8, and 2-4.

For this game, our prediction is a win for the Brewers.

The Seattle Mariners (15-13) will face the Atlanta Braves (19-7) in an interleague showdown this Monday night at Seattle’s home T-Mobile Park. The Mariners currently sit in first place in the American League West, while the Braves lead the National League East.

The Mariners have been one of the surprise teams in baseball this year. Led by star rookie Julio Rodriguez and Mitch Haniger, the Mariners are on their way to finally advancing to the playoffs. Seattle has excelled this season thanks to great pitching and timely hitting.

The Braves are looking to be that strong, decisive team that won the World Series a couple of seasons ago. Reigning National League Most Valuable Player Ronald Acuña Jr. leads the team despite a slow start offensively. However, Marcel Ozuna has been at his best and leads the team in AVG with .340, HR with 9, and SLG with .670. The pitching staff led by Chris Sale has the Braves primed for another deep run in the playoffs.

For this Game, our prediction is a Braves Victory.

MLB Weekly Preview 6: Dbacks vs. Dodgers

Finally, the Arizona Diamondbacks (13-16) will face the Los Angeles Dodgers (18-12) in an exciting National League West showdown this week. The Dodgers currently lead the division with the best record in baseball, while the Dbacks are in fourth place.

The Dodgers have dominated the division this season behind the stellar pitching of Tyler Glasnow with 5 wins, 53K, and 2.72 ERA. Offensively, Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani have led the charge. The Dodgers have won 6 of their last 10 games. Likewise, it’s fair to mention that Ohtani is winning the hearts of California fans, as he leads the team in several aspects offensively.

The Dbacks have struggled this season and are currently 4.5 games back in the NL West standings. While veterans like Ketel Marte and David Peralta have performed well, the team lacks pitching depth.

This series will feature an intriguing pitching matchup between James Paxton and Thommy Henry. Henry has historically pitched better against the Dodgers than most teams. The Dbacks will need big offensive games from Marte and others to keep up with the loaded Dodgers lineup.

While the Dbacks will likely not compete this season, this series provides an opportunity to play spoiler against their talented division rival. The Dodgers will be focused on maintaining their momentum heading into the All-Star Game break.

For this game, there is no doubt that our prediction is a win for the Dodgers.
