San Luis vs. Club América: Liguilla Semifinals Preview

Last Updated on December 5, 2023 2:06 pm by Erwin Noguera

We have now reached the dying embers of this Apertura 2023 Liga MX Tournament, or Liguilla as we want to call it, the Semifinals. That means that the four best teams of the tournament will meet in a round-robin series to define the two finalists.

We undoubtedly enjoyed intense, interesting, and exciting matches in this Liguilla. However, the four teams in this stage, San Luis, América, Tigres, and Pumas, deserve their place as they have been infinitely superior to their rivals.

Now, they must play for their lives in both matches to get the coveted ticket to the Grand Final of the Apertura 2023 Tournament.

One series will be between Atlético San Luis and Club América, which begins this Wednesday, December 6.

When:

Wednesday, December 6 at 10:00 pm ET at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras Ramírez

Moneyline odds:

San Luis +185

Club América +110

Draw Offs:

+250

Why Bet on San Luis?

Thanks to a 1-2 aggregate score, Atlético San Luis could leave Rayados de Monterrey on the road and advance to the semifinals of the Liguilla.

The Potosinos won the first leg thanks to Ricardo Chávez’s goal. Later, the team coached by Brazilian Gustavo Leal made the difference at the BBVA Bancomer Stadium. Even after Rogelio Funes Mori scored, Vitinho Ferreira, from Brazil, completed the aggregate advantage.

There is no doubt that Atletico San Luis may deserve to be in these defining instances since, let’s remember, they were leading the Liga MX standings during the entire first half of the season.

Now, they will face América, a team that inspires and is eager to become Liga MX champions.

Why Bet on Club América?

On the other hand, León lost to América with a 4-2 aggregate score. A brace from Henry Martín gave the Azulcremas a 2-2 draw in the first leg. Meanwhile, in the second leg, Martín scored the first for his team, and Colombian Julián Quiñones converted a penalty to give the Azulcremas the victory at the Azteca Stadium.

During the regular season, América was the best team in Liga MX in this Apertura tournament, as they comfortably took first place in the standings. However, in this postseason things are entirely different, as we have seen many times before.

As usual, the Eagles are the best team in almost every department (wins, goals in favor, defense, etc.)

Final Betting Analysis: San Luis vs. Club América

We have reached that stage of the season where, while América looks like the strongest team and the obvious choice, the history has a different outcome. Chivas, Toluca, and Pachuca are the teams that have taken them out of contention at the semifinals recently (they had three eliminations in the quarterfinals in a row before that.)

However, the longer a run extends, the closer it is to its end. We believe this is the time when América, finally, will reach the final. Notwithstanding, at this first match, they’ll get a draw.

At MyBookie.ag, we can see that there is a Moneyline that favors America at +110, while San Luis starts at +185.

In the last ten games played between these two teams, Club América leads the series with eight wins. On the other hand, Atletico San Luis has managed to get two victories, while no match has ended in a draw.

Look for a win on the draw’s Moneyline. For example, if you put $100 on a tie at +250, you’ll see a $250 win with a total payout of $350.
