Last Updated on March 19, 2024 6:36 pm by Erwin Noguera

The semifinals of Germany’s Euro 2024 qualifiers feature a match between two countries looking to make history when Georgia hosts Luxembourg.

In their last group stage match, the Black Sea nation lost 3-1 to visiting powerhouse Spain. They finished fourth, but a good Nations League gave them a chance to go to the playoffs.

The Frisians finished the phase with a narrow 1-0 victory over Liechtenstein, thanks to a Gerson Rodrigues conversion, making it a historic campaign.

Why Bet on Georgia?

Georgia is two matches away from achieving something historic for its soccer: qualifying for the first time to Europe’s most important tournament of nations, although it’s of note that, until 1991, it was part of the Soviet Union. In 2020, they missed out, but now they have a chance for revenge.

Their last appearance in the group stage ended in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Spain. As it could not be otherwise, the creative midfielder Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored the discount for this team. Kvaratskhelia is the country’s most representative player, thanks to the fact that at Napoli, he was one of the leading figures in last season’s Serie A title.

However, Khvicha, 23 years old, has deteriorated his performance in the current campaign since he has only four assists, compared to the ten he provided in 2022-2023. In terms of scoring, he has ten goals, four less than last season.

In addition to the good winger, Georgia has a goalkeeper in the elite, as Giorgi Mamardashvili, who plays in Valencia, is a wall. From then on, French coach Willy Sagnol has no more stars, but he has a team of workers to achieve the goal of going to the European Championship in Germany.

Why Bet on Luxembourg?

The story goes that, many years ago, Luxembourg was a regular participant in the Olympic Games, but the advent of modernity left the team on the sidelines.  It has never qualified for a Euro or World Cup.

The team’s last outing ended in a 1-0 victory over Liechtenstein. Gerson Rodrigues was the scorer that allowed this country to finish third in its zone.  In the group stage, they got 17 points, far from Portugal’s 30 and Slovakia’s 22. However, they won five games and lost only once away, albeit an embarrassing 9-0 defeat to Portugal.

Rodrigues, who plays for Slovan Bratislava, scored five goals in the qualifiers, making him a player to watch for Georgia in this match.  After the striker, their most recognized players are goalkeeper Anthony Moris of Union Saint-Gilloise and Mainz midfielder Leandro Barreiro. Some also remember the midfielder Sebastien Thill, who scored a great goal for Sheriff against Real Madrid a few years ago in a historic victory of the Moldovan team in Madrid in the Champions League.

A fact to keep in mind about this team is that it has only lost two of its last eight matches.

Final Betting Analysis: Georgia vs. Luxembourg

These teams have never played an official match, but so far, the record is two wins for Georgia, one for Luxembourg, and one draw in four friendlies.  The last time they met was in 2018, and the Luxembourgers won 1-0.

The numbers at Gambyl Exchange have Georgia as the favorite. The Moneyline for them shows 1.84, while Luxembourg has 4.68, and the draw is at 3.44.

These two teams will have a very difficult time qualifying for Euro 2024, but being at home and having a differential player like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the victory will end up being for Georgia by 2-1.

Go for a win for Georgia in the Moneyline. If you bet $100 at 1.84, you will gain $84 for a total payout of $184.
