Premier League Matchday 2 – Preview and Free Picks

Matchday 2 of the Premier League begins and will have a great duel between two London teams that aspire to fight for the title.

Chelsea vs. Tottenham will be the most important game this weekend between two candidate teams that won in their first match.

Manchester City and Erling Haaland will have another tough test against Bournemouth, who have also just won, and want to continue surprisingly.

Arsenal is one of the most expected teams this season and Leicester will be a very good test for them.

The Matchday will be closed by Liverpool, who could not win in their debut and do not want to lose track of the leaders, so it is an obligation to beat Crystal Palace.

Great match in London. Chelsea comes from winning a very tough game against Everton 0-1 with a penalty goal from Jorginho. Thomas Tuchel’s team was the dominator of the game but could not transfer that dominance to the scoreboard and was left with a very tight result.

Tottenham for its part thrashed Southampton in the first game with a 4-1 and is the first leader of the tournament. Despite the good reinforcements, coach Antonio Conte chose the same ones from last season, showing that they are a very solid team and that the reinforcements are still not 100%.

Arsenal was one of the teams that best reinforced this season and showed it with a great away win against Crystal Palace by 0-2. However, they had many moments of trouble that they must improve for the next games. What stands out about Arteta’s team is that several of the reinforcements were starters and showed that they fit very well with the style of play.

Leicester couldn’t do it at home and drew 2-2 with Brentford, despite leading 2-0. The Foxes just made their first signing this week, goalkeeper Alex Smithies, who arrives free from Cardiff City and is going to replace Kasper Schmeichel, who left for Nice after 11 seasons and remains in the club’s history. Smithies, 32, has never played in the Premier League and has always been in England’s second and third divisions. The only season he was in the first division, with Cardiff, he did not play a minute.

Erling Haaland made his debut in the Premier League and he did it as he knows how with a goal. The Norwegian striker scored a brace in Manchester City’s 0-2 win against West Ham, and Pep Guardiola’s side managed to overcome a tough test. Haaland was the only one of the reinforcements who started, while Kalvin Phillips and Julián Álvarez entered towards the end of the second half.

Bournemouth was one of the surprises by beating Aston Villa 2-0 thanks to goals from Jefferson Lerma and Kieffer Moore. They were the only recently promoted team to win on this first weekend of the Premier League and they want to go to Manchester to give a big surprise. In addition, this week the signings of goalkeeper Neto and midfielder Marcos Senesi have been made official, which will raise the level of the club.

Manchester City vs. Bournemouth Betting Pick: Manchester City

Premier League Matchday 2: Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace

Moneyline odds: Liverpool -480 / Crystal Palace +1275 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

It was not the debut intended for Liverpool. The Reds tied 2-2 with Fulham and were close to losing if not for the entry of Darwin Núñez. The Uruguayan striker scored one goal and assisted in the other, and showed that he fits in perfectly with the team, since a few days ago in the Community Shield he also scored.

Crystal Palace got off to a tough start. They had to open the Premier League against Arsenal and lost 0-2, although they did figure in goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. And as if that were not enough, their second game is away against Liverpool. Without a doubt, Patrick Vieira’s men have to sharpen their aim if they want to win this game since against the Gunners they showed little effectiveness.
