Premier League Matchday 9 – Roundup and Results

Last Updated on October 4, 2022 8:01 pm by Erwin Noguera

The Premier League matchday 9 just ended up yesterday with the steamroll that Leicester City gave to Nottingham, achieving their first victory of the season, while also sinking more the ship of the team that broke records on the transfer market. However, this was not the only interesting result of this matchday, which had excellent games and some surprises.

Now we have a table that is taking more form. Arsenal is at the top, Manchester City is firmly in second place and only four points separate Brighton at 4rth place from Everton at 11th.

The last team from the Big 6 in the table is Liverpool, which still struggles due to their terrible defensive level. Alexander Arnold is at an all-time low, and the rest of the back four isn’t really at its best. Meanwhile, the relegation places have two once-promising projects (Leicester and Wolves) and recently ascended Forest.

Premier League Matchday 9: Arsenal vs. Tottenham

The North London Derby was the most important match of the day, due to the position of both teams on the table. However, with first place at stake, Tottenham had an awful day, additional from the expulsion of Emerson Royale due to a stupidly dangerous tackle, leaving Spurs with no hope of taking something from the game.

Arsenal’s form is remarkable, their only stain is that game against United and, maybe, a couple of defensive unintelligences that they should solve. Either way, they dominated the game and are still fighting at the top. Nevertheless, they have a train of a team breathing on their necks, so let’s see if they can keep on with the pressure.

Result: Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham

What a derby, what a game, what an afternoon. The top dogs from Manchester gave us the best game of the season until now and another exhibition from an attacking front that is giving us something to talk about. Haaland, Foden, De Bruyne, and Grealish were on the onslaught in the first half, giving City a 4-0 lead at the break.

The second half was a different history, with Manchester City acknowledging itself as the winner lowering the rhythm. An outstanding goal from Anthony gave some hope to the Red Devils that, shortly after, ended with a couple of goals more, from Haaland and Foden again, to complete two hattricks to be remembered. After that Guardiola changed all that they could to put the match to sleep and ended up coinciding a couple of late goals to Martial.

Result: Manchester City 6-3 Manchester United

Premier League Matchday 9: Liverpool vs. Brighton

WhenSaturday, October 1 at 10:00 am ET

Moneyline odds: Liverpool -270 / Brighton +680 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Another exhibition of the weekend could be seen at Anfield, where the Seagulls gave early headaches to Klopp with a couple of excellent goals from another of the revelations of the season: Leandro Trossard. Brighton’s magical trio of Trossard, Gross, and Mac Allister was a machine then again, but defensive mistakes and a wonder goal from Firmino put the match 3-2 at one moment.

At the time looked like Liverpool was abusing again the Anfield magic to pull the chestnuts out of the fire. However, none other than Leandro Trossard saved a point to the Seagulls to complete the hattrick and, truth be told, the Reds didn’t deserve the win.

Results: Liverpool 3-3 Brighton and Hove Albion

Premier League Matchday 9: Fulham vs. Newcastle

WhenSaturday, October 1 at 9:00 am ET

Moneyline odds: Fulham +204 / Newcastle +133 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Draw Offs+242

The other match from teams a the top spots in the table was between Fulham and Newcastle. This time, the team that has St’ James Park as its home put an end to a bad run of 5 games without a win, which was rising doubts over a project that, with the number of resources that it has now, should be fighting for European competition spots in the Premier League already.

Fulham is a team in good form, so it seemed like a balanced game at first. However, a childish mistake from Chalobah put the London team on fire from early on, opening the door to a great performance from Newcastle that had a wonder goal from Almiron as the jewel of the crown.

Result: Fulham 1-4 Newcastle
