The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is a professional golf tournament that belongs to the annual calendar of the PGA Tour, which is held in Avondale, Louisiana, USA. This prestigious event debuted on the PGA Tour 84 years ago, specifically in 1938, and was it has been held annually since 1958. Zurich Insurance Group is the main sponsor of the event, and it is organized by the Fore!Kids Foundation.

In the year 2017, the Zurich Classic became a team tournament, with eighty teams of two. For the selection of the first member of the team, the positions in the world rankings of the PGA Tour are taken into account, and his partner must be a member of the PGA Tour or gain entry through a sponsor exemption.

A total of 80 teams made up of 2 players, that is, a total of 160 golfers, will compete against each other in the Zurich Classic for 72-hole shots. The first and third rounds will feature Foursomes (which is an alternate shot), while the second and fourth rounds will be Four-Ball (best ball).

The new format that has been implemented for 3 years, has attracted a large number of top players every year, so we will be able to see the best golfers in the world in a spectacular event in their fight for the champion trophy, points of the FedEx Cup and the juicy cash prize. When: April 18 – 24, 2022.

Where? Louisiana, USA

The team of Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith are the current champions of this tournament, but, due to the composition of the other teams that are going to participate, they will have a very complicated competition in this edition, since several high-profile teams are expected to compete with players who are within the TOP 10 in the world rankings of the PGA Tour, including the duo of Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland.

This event became a team event in 2017, so there is not much background that we can see and compare, but, the feat of the team of Jonas Blixt and Cameron Smith, who combined to shoot 27 under par in 2017, it has not been able to be surpassed in the first 4 years of this format of the event.
