Descripción general del equipo

The Arizona Cardinals are rebuilding, and the market has priced them accordingly. Arizona went 3-14 last season and finished last in the NFC West. It also lost its final nine games, six of them by three scores or more. That collapse cost Jonathan Gannon his job. In his place, Arizona hired Mike LaFleur, who spent three seasons as offensive coordinator of the Rams. Nathaniel Hackett runs the offense, while Nick Rallis runs the defense.

The front office tore down the quarterback room and rebuilt it. Arizona cut Kyler Murray in March, and he is now in Minnesota. Jacoby Brissett threw for 3,366 yards and 23 touchdowns last season, but he went 1-11 as a starter. He then held out through the entire offseason program before reporting on a reworked contract. Still, Brissett won the starting job, with Gardner Minshew II and third-round rookie Carson Beck behind him. Arizona also spent the third overall pick on running back Jeremiyah Love. Love joins James Conner, Trey Benson and free agent Tyler Allgeier in a crowded backfield. Meanwhile, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride remain the real talent on this roster.

Análisis de la línea ofensiva

Arizona gutted this unit and has not fully replaced it. Jonah Williams, Kelvin Beachum, Will Hernandez and Evan Brown all departed in a single offseason. Together they took both veteran tackles, a starting guard and the center out of the room. Paris Johnson Jr. anchors the left side and is the one settled piece. The Cardinals used their second-round pick on guard Chase Bisontis and added tackle Jayden Williams in the seventh. That is a lot to ask of rookies in a division with Myles Garrett, Nick Bosa and Leonard Williams. Protecting Brissett was already the problem last season. Surprisingly, the line has allowed just three sacks through two games. However, the Seattle game showed the other side, as Arizona managed only 151 total yards.

Análisis de la línea defensiva

The same pattern repeats here. Calais Campbell, Dalvin Tomlinson and Bilal Nichols all left, stripping this front of its veteran interior. What remains is young and unproven. Walter Nolen, the 2025 first-round pick, battled injuries through his rookie year. He showed what Arizona hopes he can be only once, in a Monday night win over Dallas in November. Darius Robinson also needs to take a step in year three. Rallis inherits a defense that finished 29th in scoring and ranked 20th in generating pressure. It also gave up the third-most passing touchdowns when it did pressure the quarterback. The early signs are encouraging, though. Nolen and the young interior held the Chargers to 81 rushing yards in the opener. Seattle’s 162 rushing yards in Week 2 were a reminder of how thin the group remains. Keeping Nolen healthy for a full season is still the key for this unit.

Temporada 2026 de la NFL

Semana 1

Cardinals at Los Angeles Chargers | Sunday, September 13 | 4:25 PM ET | SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, CA

Arizona opens as the biggest underdog on the entire Week 1 board. The Chargers sit at -11.5 and -625 on the moneyline, with the Cardinals at +455 and the total at 45.5. In fact, Los Angeles is the only double-digit favorite in the opening week of the season.

Eleven and a half points against a playoff team on the road is a brutal way to start a rebuild. It reflects exactly what the market thinks of Arizona’s lines. Still, there is a case for the Cardinals on the number rather than the result. Last season, their first five losses all came by four points or fewer before the season unraveled. LaFleur also knows this conference well from his time in Los Angeles. Keeping this inside two scores would count as a good day.

Resumen de la semana 1

Arizona opened the season with a 26-14 win in Los Angeles as an 11.5-point underdog. It was the largest upset of the Week 1 slate. The Cardenales did it the way rebuilding teams almost never do. They controlled the ball for 37 minutes and 31 seconds and committed zero turnovers. Jacoby Brissett completed 27 of 37 for 277 yards with a touchdown to Trey McBride and no interceptions. He posted a 103.1 rating and took just one sack behind a line many expected to be the weak point.

The defense was the story. Nick Rallis’ unit sacked Justin Herbert three times, forced a fumble and picked him off once. It also stopped the Cargadores de Los Ángeles three times on fourth down and blocked a punt. As a result, Los Angeles ran only 51 plays and held the ball for under 23 minutes. Walter Nolen and the young interior held the Chargers’ run game to 81 yards on 21 carries. Many expected this division to overwhelm that front. Instead, it dictated terms in the opener.

The margin came from the kicking game. Chad Ryland made four of five field goals, including a 49-yarder with 2:37 remaining that iced it. Los Angeles, meanwhile, never attempted one. Rookie Jeremiyah Love opened the scoring with a five-yard touchdown run in his NFL debut. Discipline is the one thing to fix, with eight penalties for 111 yards. Still, a 1-0 start against a playoff team is not what anyone had priced in. Next, Arizona hosts the defending Super Bowl champions.

Semana 2

Seahawks contra Arizona Cardinals | Domingo, 20 de septiembre | 16:25 ET | State Farm Stadium, Glendale, AZ

Arizona opens as a home underdog at +190 on the moneyline. The Halcones Marinos de Seattle sit at -230, with the spread at 4.5 points and the total at 41.5. Seattle arrives at 1-0 after beating New England 13-10 in the season opener. The low total reflects two defenses that both looked the part in Week 1.

The market has not moved much on Arizona despite the win, which is the honest read after one game. What has changed is the matchup. Seattle scored just 13 points against the Patriots. It also lost Sam Darnold to an injury that will keep him out this week. That leaves Drew Lock to run an offense that already had questions at running back. The Cardenales, meanwhile, just held a Justin Herbert offense to 268 yards and two touchdowns. Now they get to do it at home, with a crowd behind them. Four and a half points against a backup quarterback is a number worth a second look.

Resumen de la semana 2

Arizona could not follow up its Week 1 upset, losing 31-7 at home to the defending champion Halcones Marinos de Seattle. The game turned on Seattle’s second offensive play. A busted coverage left Jaxon Smith-Njigba wide open for an 82-yard touchdown. The Cardenales tied it early in the second quarter on a two-yard touchdown from Jacoby Brissett a Trey McBride. After that, they never scored again. Seattle closed with 24 unanswered points.

The offense that controlled the clock for 37 minutes in Los Angeles could not sustain anything. Arizona managed 151 total yards and 10 first downs. It also held the ball for just 23 minutes and punted seven times. Brissett completed 17 of 28 for 95 yards, and his longest completion went for nine yards. In the third quarter, a sliding interception by Julian Love handed Seattle short field position.

The defense played better than the score suggests. It forced and recovered a fumble and stopped Seattle twice on fourth down. However, it could not survive a 36-minute time-of-possession deficit. Smith-Njigba finished with nine catches for 155 yards and three touchdowns. The secondary also took hits, as cornerback s Max Melton (toe) and Will Johnson (neck) both left the game. Overall, the Cardenales have now lost eight straight at State Farm Stadium, a run spanning nearly a year. They have also lost 10 straight to Seattle.

Semana 3

Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers | Sunday, September 27 | 4:05 PM ET | Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA

Arizona opens as an 8.5-point road underdog. DraftKings priced the Cardenales at +350 against the 49ers de San Francisco at -455, with the total at 47.5. San Francisco is 2-0 after back-to-back wins by at least 20 points, a first in franchise history. It also scored touchdowns on its first five drives against Miami.

The number is fair on form. Still, the Cardenales have already won as a bigger underdog this season. They beat the Chargers outright at +11.5 by controlling the ball and committing no turnovers. That formula is the only one that works against Brock Purdy, who completed 20 of 22 passes last week. The concern is the secondary. If Melton and Johnson cannot go, Arizona is thin at corner. That is a problem against an offense with George Kittle healthy and Mike Evans in the lineup. In short, Arizona needs the offense that held the ball for 37 minutes, not the one that gained 151 yards.

Resumen de la semana 3

Arizona lost 36-30 at San Francisco, falling despite a furious late rally. The Cardinals trailed by 10 entering the fourth quarter, then scored 17 in it. Still, the defense could not get a stop when it mattered. A 20-yard touchdown with roughly a minute left settled the afternoon.

Jacoby Brissett completed 38 of 52 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran in a one-yard score, and he threw no interceptions. Rookie Jeremiyah Love carried 21 times for 90 yards while adding a receiving touchdown. Meanwhile, Michael Wilson caught 11 passes for 89 yards and a score. Trey McBride chipped in nine receptions for 75 yards.

Arizona held the ball for 38:44, an enormous edge over San Francisco’s 21:16. However, the defense generated no sacks and allowed 8.7 yards per play. Ten penalties for 86 yards compounded that problem. At 1-2, the Cardinals share the bottom of a division the 49ers already lead at 3-0. Winning the clock means little when the pass rush never gets home.

Semana 4

Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants | Sunday, October 4 | 1:00 PM ET | MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ

A cross-country trip follows, and it lands against a stingy defense. Nueva York is 2-1 after grinding out a 12-7 win over Tennessee. The Giants have allowed only 55 points in three games. However, their offense ranks 31st at 153.0 passing yards per game. Jameis Winston took over after a knee injury ended the starter’s regular season.

Resumen de la semana 4

Arizona lost 36-24 at Nueva York, and the ending was brutal. The Cardinals reached the two-yard line with the game still alive. Then Deonte Banks returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown as time expired.

Jacoby Brissett completed 21 of 35 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns. However, he also threw three interceptions, and that margin decided everything. Jeremiyah Love led the rushing attack with 63 yards on 14 carries. Meanwhile, Michael Wilson caught seven passes for 95 yards. Marvin Harrison Jr. scored on his only reception, and Trey McBride added seven catches.

Defensively, Arizona recorded two sacks and intercepted Jameis Winston twice. Even so, the Giants outgained the Cardinals 319 yards to 270. At 1-3, Arizona now sits alone at the bottom of the NFC West. Red-zone execution, rather than effort, is the problem heading into October.

Semana 5

Detroit Lions at Arizona Cardinals | Sunday, October 11 | 4:25 PM ET | State Farm Stadium, Glendale, AZ

Detroit arrives at 2-2, having just lost 32-26 in Carolina. Jared Goff threw for 412 yards in that defeat, so the passing game works. Meanwhile, Jahmyr Gibbs scored his seventh touchdown of the season. Still, the Lions allowed scores on six straight Carolina possessions.

Detroit is a 5.5-point road favorite, with the total at 53.5. Because neither defense has held up lately, that number makes sense. Arizona, however, has to stop giving the ball away in scoring range. Three interceptions in New York cost the Cardinals a winnable afternoon. A home crowd helps, although discipline matters far more here.

Resumen de la semana 5

Arizona lost 45-21 to Detroit at State Farm Stadium. The Cardinals could not run the football at all. That imbalance, rather than anything else, settled the afternoon early.

Jacoby Brissett completed 29 of 47 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns. However, he also threw an interception and went down five times. Jeremiyah Love gained just 22 yards on 12 carries. Meanwhile, Trey McBride caught nine passes for 66 yards and a score. Arizona finished with 56 rushing yards on 18 attempts.

Defensively, the Cardinals never slowed Jahmyr Gibbs, who ran 25 times for 151 yards. Jared Goff added three touchdown passes on 19 completions. Detroit also outgained Arizona 412 yards to 327. At 1-4, Arizona stays last in the NFC West. Because the ground game has stalled, run blocking is the urgent fix.

Semana 6

Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams | Sunday, October 18 | 4:05 PM ET | SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, CA

Los Ángeles was 2-2 going into Monday night against Búfalo. The Rams won 24-20 at Filadelfia en la semana 4. Mateo Stafford threw for 317 yards in that comeback. Meanwhile, Kyren Williams scored twice inside the final four minutes. Puka Nacua also returned from injury with nine catches for 125 yards.

Los Angeles is a 12.5-point home favorite, with the total at 52.5. Arizona has not faced a wider number this season. Ball security is the first problem, because Brissett has thrown four interceptions in two weeks. The second is a run game that gained 56 yards on Sunday. However, the Cardinals did score 30 points in San Francisco in September. Something near that would at least keep this competitive.

Probabilidades de ganar la División y el Super Bowl

Probabilidades de ganar la NFC Oeste: +10000

Probabilidades de ganar el Super Bowl: +100000

Predicciones

Récord general: The Cardinals project to finish around 4-13, with the win total set at 3.5 after dropping from 4.5 over the summer

Posibilidades de playoffs: None the market takes seriously, at +2000 to make the postseason

Posibilidades del Super Bowl: The longest odds in the NFL

This is a bridge season, and the organization is not pretending otherwise. Arizona shares a division with the defending Super Bowl champion, the preseason Super Bowl favorite and a 12-win 49ers team. That means six games a year against teams built to win now. The talent, however, is not absent. Harrison, McBride and Love give LaFleur something to build an offense around. Budda Baker and Will Johnson are also real pieces in the secondary. The problem is that the front office dismantled both lines and handed them to young players. Brissett has already won one game nobody expected, but the Seattle loss showed the gap. Expect Arizona to be more competitive than 3-14 suggested and still finish last.
