Liverpool visited Bournemouth, thrashed them 4-0, and kept the lead in the Premier League after matchday 21.

But now the Reds have Manchester City breathing down their necks, who won in a tight game against Newcastle away, thanks to a brilliant Kevin De Bruyne, and are now five points behind with a game in hand.

Arsenal had no problems, beating Crystal Palace and showing that they still have the weapons to fight for the league.

The team that could not ratify their great moment was Aston Villa, who drew with Everton and lost their second place in the tournament.

After 26 minutes, Bernardo Silva gave City the lead with a back-heeled goal, but the Magpies turned it around with goals from Alexander Isak (35th) and Anthony Gordon (37th) on well-executed counterattacks. Newcastle dropped to tenth place with 29 points and are on a four-game losing streak in the Premier League, while the Citizens have six wins in a row and nine matches unbeaten in all competitions.

Aston Villa had the opportunity to keep the second position in the English league but drew 0-0 with one of the poorest teams, Everton.

It was a close match, where the Villans confirmed that they are not so reliable away, scoring 15 points in 11 games. The worst thing is that they could not beat the Toffees, who have only reached 11 points at home.

The team coached by Unai Emery was better on the pitch but failed to show that superiority on the scoreboard.

Villa is fourth with 43 points, while Everton is 17th with 17 points and is still fighting not to be relegated.

Liverpool maintained their lead in the Premier League after a 4-0 away win over Bournemouth.

Without Mohamed Salah, who is away at the African Cup of Nations, Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota put on their superhero costumes.

The Uruguayan opened the account in the 49th minute when he connected with a cross from Diogo Jota, while the Portuguese then doubled his tally. In the 70th minute, he crossed the ball to make it 2-0, while in the 79th minute, he converted a pass from the right by Conor Bradley. Núñez closed the account at 90+3 minutes with a right-footed shot.

The Reds reached 48 points in the top of the Premier League, while the Cherries remained with 25 in 12th position.
