Brasileirão Matchday 22 Roundup and Results

The fans of the Brazilian league had many reasons to stay tuned at the Brasileirão after last weekend’s games. We could see some incredible results, such as the 5-0 Flamengo applied to Athletico Paranaense in Maracanã.

Corinthians and Fluminense lost their games, changing the top of the table: Flamengo is second now, while those two dropped one position.

Fortaleza finally left the relegation zone (Z-4) after beating its rival Ceará by the minimum score possible. After drawing the game (1-1) against GoiásAvaí was the one to assume Fortaleza’s last position in the bad zone, and they are now at the 17th position.

We’ll comment briefly about each game this weekend so you can get to know what happened and what to expect for the next rounds.

Brasileirão Matchday 22: Goiás 1 x 1 Avaí

Avaí’s striker, Bissoli, scored once again from the penalty spot to open the score in the Serrinha Stadium. Dadá Belmonte scored in the second half to even the numbers, but the result was the worst for both teams. Avaí (17º) just entered the relegation zone, while Goiás dropped to the 13th position.

Brasileirão Matchday 22: Corinthians 0 x 1 Palmeiras

This was the game with the most expectations of the round because the leader would be facing the second position team. Palmeiras did not miss the chance to enlarge the distance to Corinthians and won again, taking those three points back home and getting even closer to the league’s trophy.

Brasileirão Matchday 22: Cuiabá 1 x 0 Juventude

Experienced striker André scored the only goal of the match, earning three important points for Cuiabá, which is now out of the relegation zone, where they were for a few rounds. Juventude is the last on the table, five points behind Atlético Goianiense (19º).

Brasileirão Matchday 22: Botafogo 0 x 0 Atlético Goianiense

Botafogo disappointed their supporters once again by not winning the game against Atlético Goianiense. It was a match with many chances for both sides, but neither of them could be accurate on the shots. Botafogo ended the contest with one man down.

Brasileirão Matchday 22: Coritiba 0 x 1 Atlético Mineiro

Coritiba’s first game without the young talent Igor Paixão didn’t go so well. They made it very difficult for Atlético Mineiro but allowed a goal in the last minute of the second half. Striker Alan Kardec entered the pitch in Hulk’s place and scored a header that secured the victory against the home team.

Brasileirão Matchday 22: Flamengo 5 x 0 Athletico Paranaense

Flamengo’s second team was too good for the mixed Athletico in this league game. The winners scored 4 goals in corner kicks, some of them looking like a repetition. The teams will face each other again in two days for the second leg of the Copa do Brasil.
