The MLS regular season is history, and we have the teams that qualified directly to the playoffs comfortably waiting for the weekend to arrive to start their run in the defining phase.
However, before that, we will have the MLS Wild Card. In these games, four teams will be fighting for the last two postseason berths in each conference. Specifically, we will have those teams that finished in eighth and ninth place in the table, both in the East and West conferences.
On October 25, the Wild Card matches will pit NY Red Bulls vs. Charlotte and Sporting KC vs. SJ Earthquakes. Finally, on Saturday, October 28, the playoff phase will begin with the two qualified teams from these Wild Cards.

There is no doubt that this match is also a balanced and tight game, as both teams are coming off scoring points at the end of the regular season. However, it is fair to mention that Sporting KC finished the previous phase with two wins against Real Salt Lake (3-2) away and against Minnesota (3-1) at home.
As we can see, the team is displaying an exceptional level of play offensively, so it is expected that they will continue in the same vein in this match against the Earthquakes to try to get their ticket to the postseason.
On the other hand, the SJ Earthquakes qualified for this Wild Card match by the skin of their teeth, as the team had 4 consecutive draws, which made them stay in ninth place in the Western Conference table, only 1 point ahead of the Portland Timbers and 2 of Minnesota.
