Team Overview

The Chiefs are looking to bounce back after a stunning 6-11 finish in 2025, the worst season of the Mahomes-Reid era, which ended with Patrick Mahomes tearing his ACL and LCL in a Week 15 loss to the Chargers and Kansas City missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade. Head coach Andy Reid brought back Eric Bieniemy as offensive coordinator and added running back Kenneth Walker III, Seattle’s Super Bowl LX MVP, in free agency to help jump-start an offense that stalled out without its franchise quarterback.

Offensive Line Analysis

Kansas City returns a talented interior trio in three-time All-Pro center Creed Humphrey, right guard Trey Smith, and second-year left guard Kingsley Suamataia, giving Mahomes one of the better pass-protecting cores in the league. Left tackle Josh Simmons looks to build on his rookie flashes over a full season, while Jaylon Moore steps in at right tackle to replace departed veteran Jawaan Taylor, rounding out a line the team is counting on to finally keep its quarterback upright.

Defensive Line Analysis

Interior force Chris Jones remains the anchor of Kansas City’s front, working alongside edge rusher George Karlaftis, though the pass rush outside of Jones is still a real question mark after the team didn’t add a proven veteran edge this offseason. The secondary took a hit with the departures of cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson to the Rams, leaving rookie Mansoor Delane to help rebuild a defense that will need to create more pressure up front to take pressure off a retooled back end.
