Premier League Matchday 10 Roundup

Last Updated on October 30, 2023 4:12 pm by Erwin Noguera

The Matchday 10 of the Premier League came and went as if nothing happened at the top 5 of the scoreboard, as all of the top teams managed to get a victory and keep things right as they were the week before.

This just points out how focused these teams are at getting near the top, and pretty much how contested the fight is right there.

The Relegation zone has something similar happening, as the 3 bottom teams all lost their matches, keeping things even.

Below, we will give you some of the details that took place on matchday 10 of the Premier League.

Premier League leaders Tottenham recovered from a sluggish first half to win 2-1 at Crystal Palace and extend their lead at the summit to five points, before of course, everyone else caught back up later on the weekend.

Ange Postecoglou’s side found life tough at Selhurst Park initially but moved through the gears in the second period and went ahead when Joel Ward put the ball in his net in the 53rd minute following James Maddison’s center.

Captain Son Heung-min made the points safe 13 minutes later with a close-range finish for his eighth goal this season to ensure high-flying Spurs extended their unbeaten top-flight start to 10 matches.

Jordan Ayew struck late on for Palace, but victory moved Tottenham five points clear of Manchester City, who visit rivals Manchester United on Sunday, and while that gap is unlikely to remain come the end of the weekend, this latest test passed by Postecoglou’s new-look team will only increase the optimism growing in N17.

Eddie Nketiah scored his first Premier League hat-trick as Arsenal extended their unbeaten start to the season with victory over Sheffield United at Emirates Stadium. He opened the scoring with a deft touch and swiveled finish after Declan Rice’s threaded ball caught out the United defense.

Nketiah’s thumping effort into the roof of the net increased Arsenal’s lead against bottom-of-the-table United. A sensational strike from 25 yards completed a perfect afternoon for the England forward, who has five league goals this season, all of which have come at home.

Fabio Vieira scored a late penalty after the video assistant referee (VAR) adjudged Oliver Norwood to have fouled him inside the area. Takehiro Tomiyasu got on the end of a flick from Mohamed Elneny and poked home from a corner in stoppage time.

Arsenal was simply relentless, but it was to be expected from them.

City once feared a trip to Old Trafford but painted the town blue once more with the victory over a demoralized United on Sunday to reassert their dominance.

Haaland, whose 11 league goals this season equals United’s total goal output, converted a penalty in the 26th minute when VAR showed Rasmus Hojlund had pulled down Rodri at a free kick.

The Norway striker calmly slotted the spot kick into the bottom right corner with what was, remarkably, City’s first penalty awarded in 27 Premier League trips to Old Trafford.

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland struck his first two goals, just for Foden to capitalize as they ran over Manchester United in a 3-0 thrashing in a heated Premier League derby.
